Is the rule on creeks solid or is there a distance from the waterline thats acceptable? Ive been researching codes, and some areas give a 200ft from the waterline depending on floodzones and other factors dealing with environmental preservation.

It’s going to vary by county. I would imagine each is going to have some setback requirements though and you’re exactly right about environmental preservation as the goal. Counties and even states tend to have strict rules around wetlands preservation.
