I am running standard DuraTrac tires currently. I had KO2s previously. With regard to wear and snow traction I believe for me I will go with DuraTrack RT for my Montana winters which feature plenty of snow and mud scenarios. I loved my KO2s and KO3 may be better still but that was in California when snow wasn't in the equasion but I did a lot of rock crawling. In fact there I went to mud terrain tires eventually for that purpose.

I got the previous version dura’s on a lite 2door jk, work well overall in sand (most of my off-roading) and gravel roads. On the road they are really good, particularly in the wet on such a lite car. They have worn well as I rotate them every service. They are abit noisy but not like mud terrains, I don’t mind it tbh once the stereo is up you don’t hear anything haha. I have done about 50,000km’s and still got another 20 in them. I might be keen on these updated versions, but am looking at the boulder MT’s for the more aggressive look. May as well it’s not my daily.

Nice review man. Yes we loved their performance on sand … actually a lot espically in incline traction test. They do really great on softer terrains so mud sand and soft snow no problem for these guys.

We’ll just have to wait and see with the new KOs. They have always used a harder rubber/less silica which was why they sucked in the wet, especially as they got some age and wear on them.

One thing not addressed which is a major concern, is increased highway tire noise as the tread wears. Mud Terrain tires are notoriously horrible for this, but how would you expect these 2 to fare?
@comparethetire7 ай бұрын
Great point! Tire noise can definitely become an issue as tread wears down, especially with more aggressive patterns. Both the Goodyear DuraTrac RT and the BF Goodrich KO3 have designs aimed at reducing noise, but as they wear, you might still notice an increase. Mud Terrains are indeed notorious for this, so it's something to keep in mind!

I have the non RT duratracs on my "22 Ram 1500. I have found wet road performance excellent (7k miles on my tires, LT version, load range C). The only time my tires have spun is when accelerating from a stop and the rear tires spin over a paint stripe at an intersection. I've also read the OEM tires from factory use a cheaper rubber compound compared to the same tire bought from a tire shop.

Bit noisy on road,incredible traction in snow and ice till it wears down,then sucks. I resiped mine on 3rd winter.....huge difference. Mud....awesome. The rt has more siping.....winter traction will be even better. I stay stock size......275/60/20 The bfg doesn't appear to be available in that size......odd that the best selling half ton comes in that 20" size.
