I hope that they are introduced into service soon. So far, the tests seem to be successful with very good battery duration, and they do look very smart in the GWR livery (which in itself is one of the best).

Even if these are utilised on the Thames Valley branches165/6 will still needed on Reading - Basingstoke, Newbury - Bedwyn, Didcot - Oxford, Reading Gatwick, so there will be some at Reading for the foreseeable future.

IDK, for vanity purposes at Greenford I think I would rather see a proper Network Rail train across from an actual Underground train. Even though GWR branded I think Greenford would lose it's distinction (visually) of hosting two networks.

I hope GWR have better luck with the 230s than the Isle of Wight (SWT) with the 484s (3rd rail variant of the ex LUL D78 stock from Vivarail - who have gone bust). They have just reduced the service tine to half-hourly to "save" the trains for maintenance for the summer. It seems they cannot keep up.

So far, GWR hasn't given us an exact date, only that it would be spring this year. When an exact date is announced, I'll put in a pinned comment on this video.
