Another well structured review Jon. I've been recently long term testing the TW Graphene Wax and after its initial "boost" for chemical resistance on my test panel, on a real car its failing miserably after only a couple of months. It's now cementing my belief that we should be (and I know it's not always possible) testing out products longer term. On the Gyeon, I'm actually liking the presentation of it, very different, kinda reminds me of when Soft99 Glaco came out.

its good stuff isnt it but its kind of a different genre, detail spray/spray wax perhaps its more of a topper but yer shinee wax if you use it every wash will also give you some protection. This is the beuty of all this, you can take a very very simplw approach if you want or you can literally have like 13 layers of protection. I think 13 was the amount of potential layers you "could" have on your car with a genuine brands system :)

Used dsw for the first time on my car at the weekend. Had debated about a ceramic coating or a more fancy branded wax. Mega impressed by how well it came out for the money it cost.
@simonb63063 жыл бұрын
I’ve gone round in circles on coatings. Spend 2 days doing a ceramic properly. 2 hard days too. More days if you need it to cure and keep out the rain. If you have only one car there’s a lot of downtime with that method. If you don’t have cover it’s much harder. Or you go hybrid. Use CP lite as your base then wax a few times a year. Much easier to put on, if you mess it up you don’t risk much and can take an afternoon not days. Do half a car one week half the next. It’s not all critical. If you need to add wax you do. You don’t need to machine buff with precision. And go through the whole process. I think going ceramic hard core makes it a a science step. I find myself bot enjoying the process. Where a good wax or temp coating lets you enjoy the process and take your time without pressure.

This week a bird dropping ruined my BMW black paint on a door. It was in the car for no more than 8 hours, but it made a hole through the clear coat into the paint! The door had a 2 weeks old layer of Meguiars hybrid ceramic wax and a 3 days old layer of ADBL synthetic spray wax on it. Unfortunately, they didn't protect the paint at all, so now I had to switch to a ceramic coating :(. Bird droppings have a PH of 3~4.5 and Cquartz has a PH resistancy of 3~13, so I hope next time this won't happen! I was in shock. I was an adept of paint sealants/waxes in spray or paste, but unfortunately, I now had to switch to ceramics that are way more time-consuming and expensive.

if that bird dropping sat there and ate through to the paintwork it will go through that coating rapidly as well. theres real advantages to coatings dont get me wrong but generally they are not for me on my main car. and my family car gets smashed up so its pointless "protecting" the paint. bird crap is the least of my worries with the way my missed drives into things.

One place wax is better than ceramic coatings is wax doesn't need to cure for 24hrs. As a mobile valeter in the UK where 99% of customers don't keep their car in a garage so you can't guarantee a car is going to stay dry, let alone bird crap free, for 24hrs. So. i offer Angelwax Enigma ceramic wax which Angelwax said when I asked them doesn't need a cure time at all. Sure you can get quicker curing time coatings but the ones Ive seen have a short life, in which cade you might as well apply a good wax

There are others but they don’t do anything like as good a good a job as you. They throw it on, spray some water and pick a winner. I always think it’s great when you do something on the high street brands Ive had a play with all of these and the differences are interesting. In particular I found the mirror bright really dusts up (not good) may have been my application but I honestly don’t think so You could use double speed as a control 😀 I also agree with your view on ceramic. Btw a lot off people don’t believe in nanotechnology or ceramic coatings and use waxes only.
@ForensicDetailing3 жыл бұрын
forget about the word nanotechnology and ceramic coating.. dispell those words. think of it as speciality resins developed for certain applications outside of the car protection sphere (coil coatings, coating train carraiges for anti graffiti coating, coating modern building facades and glass on skyscrapers to make it easier to clean). Then the detailing industry figured out you could coat cars with it, and the raw inorganic silazane was always developed to be "develope-able" by mixing with organic resins, which is what a handfull of companies started doing to create blends with more desirable characteristics. the raw silane which was pretty much all that was in the first generation of coatings for cars, was barely hydrophobic so the market didnt take to it. it would last years on the cars but people thought it was worse than a wax because you cant measure products that are not hydrophobic. so organic siloxanes and silicones were added to make them bead, then new base silazanes are available now and its a more complicated market place with more players. but 99% of people that say ceramic coatings are snake oil no nothing about them. they might not be viable for most people including me.. but they offer simple undisputable properties than non ceramics cant compete with. but these qualities also create problems.

yer more to come on this. its not like an "advantage" in application. Its just like a neat/clever application idea. and implementing this idea requires that extra bit of work and cost that most companies dont do and this can seperate gyeon from the hurd. the down side is the bespoke application method is a tad slow because the applicator is smaller but you can just load onto a bigg appliocator I guess. stay tuned.

Not in love on my race red ford. Would say it make it brighter :D It is still going on my friends vw golf, for over 6mths, on BH cleanser polish, after quick prep with no machine polish, after the winter, with poor maintenance. It is great. Combo of bh cp + bh dsw has a lot of fill so great for cars with moderate paint.

cleanser polish is great isnt it. creates this silky smooth platform to wax on. the gyeon wax works on top of the Cleanser polish as well.

@@ForensicDetailing yeah. If goal is to boost looks and no polish BH CP just rocks. I tested lonegevity on CP against naked paint and it was not bad - fusso, finis, dsw, carchem 38 and even angelwax desirable were great. Actually i just reaplied after winter. Great to see gyeon on the same panel with known waxes. Seems it is meant to protect coating after application. I wouldnt consider it standalone product honestly. Real world some folks tried on fully preped cars and it is gone in a month. Cheers Jon. Hope you are well mate!

I'm on the fence now. Was massively looking forward to this but the questionable durability is slightly off-putting. I'll leave things unfold and revisit the reviews in a few months. Long-term real life testing is a must but not too practical. Maybe put it 50/50 on a friends car against BH DSW? I'd be interested in that. I prefer waxes over ceramics, I find ceramics boring, I like getting involved however I do use can coat on her car maintained with Bathe+ and wet coat.

Thanks for the reply Jon, be nice to see some updates on your car on the unplugged channel after washing whatever? I do love Gyeon though. Noticed they're using powder dye in their tar and glue which I thinks pointless

Hi Jon, great review as always. I’ve got a question for you. I use the auto glym polar series (snow foam, contact, seal with hydrophobic wash) when I wash the car. I wanted to know when I should be applying one of these wax products to the car? Is it after the polar series wash in full or before the hydrophobic coat? Thanks in advance!
@ForensicDetailing3 жыл бұрын
so with a paste wax you wash the car with pre wash and pure shampoos. decon/clay if required (if contamination is present). machine polish the paintwork if its swirly or dull. then do like a panel wipedown to degrease the paintwork. And apply a wax or sealant etc.... then in a months time if you want to boost hydrophobic and add protection you can wash and top up with polar seal for example. polar seal is more like a booster top up than a base line protection product if you get me.

@@ForensicDetailing thanks Jon. Will you need to reapply the paste wax after every wash?

Great vid 👍 I've just got back into detailing my car after the max power years many moons ago. I used to use super resin polish and ultra gloss protection together is this still a good way to do it I also have purchased auto gym ceramic spray not sure when to apply after what process? I already snow foam and wash .

Is the gyeon durable enough to last a british winter 3-4months or is the double speed a better option
