You'll want a cleat in the middle at the back for rafting up. Great having scrap, tools and knowledge close by. I enjoy all my time in boat yards. Sometimes I cry when it's time to leave...

“Weld it stick like a normal person” I felt that deep down. As a person who used to weld professionally with a stick welder and is also an armature with a tig and mig welder, that hit me deep In The giblets. I’m also hammered. Float on mr Stu. Peace be with you.

I work in a shipyard on a steel ship and steel ships are built there too. Something I have seen which I think is a great idea is for the handrails to be welded in such a way that you can run water through them and simply have a tap fitting on the rear railing or wherever one is needed. because it is stainless salt or fresh water can be used depending on what is required.
@howardlewis55153 жыл бұрын
As a non welder still amazed at what you guys manage to fabricate, and with safety in mind at all times too. In the safety chapter of my idiot's guide to welding, definitely emphasises bare feet as the way to go. I noticed that Damien always seems to put on a nice shirt for welding. Then again, Stu your old Raymarine sweaty cuts the mustard too. Talking of shirts, my D Squad shirt arrived a week ago and the new Renko profile shirt is on the way. I'll send pics of them on holiday in the Greek Islands. Cheers Stu and Damien and best wishes to Jess by the way.

Nice job Stu. I have to admit that seeing you work bare-footed is a scary situation for me. I hope that nothing falls on your feet by accident or you don’t accidentally step on anything. Best wishes and thanks for sharing!

Stu, you need to make some kind of T-shirt about welding barefoot. I've only taken one welding class in the past but I can't imagine how much my instructor would freak out with your choice of welding attire...LOL. Renko is looking better all the time. Extended railing is great.

Dang Stu, it’s great watching you work and learn! And your commentary is great. I wish these KZbin channels had been around thirty years ago! I would be down there with you and Dame, building and fabricating away! Instead, here I sit, a broken down old frustrated engineering student that was never able to complete my degree. So I took what I knew, and learned by helping the masters and by doing. Anyway, keep up the good work! Curious to know what a week on the hard Faust’s where your at? Cheers!

You are doing an amazing job on this boat. I have watched from the beginning and am always impressed. Two things I love here. 1: Thinking about how tough the bottoms of your feet must be. Winter in Austrailia? Wear a sweater, but no need for shoes. As a kid, I went barefoot everywhere, and could walk on anything with out pain. And 2: that you still climb back up in the wheelhouse to do the intro/outro for all these videos.
