New Haven man injured in police custody receiving national attention

Crump was among dozens in attendance at a New Haven press conference Tuesday announcing a lawsuit will be filed against the city within the next 60 days.
Richard Cox, 36, remains paralyzed from the chest down and there's nothing his helpless mother can do to help.
"I don't want to see my son in that damn room with that thing on his neck or his face," said a teary Doreen Coleman, Cox's mother.

Did not immediately check after hearing him fly into the back of the van and it was loud! Did not get him aid, took him to the jail. The really pathetic part of this story (aside from the lack of compassion) is shown when the cop driver stops to ‘check’ on the man the cop has Custodial Care over. Seeing the man laying on the floor of the van with his head against the wall, the cop says ‘he can’t move the man without medical’. So why did the cop go to the jail rather than a hospital, or just wait for an ambulance? But then at the jail, all that ‘concern’ over ‘moving an injured person’ went out the damn window! They dragged him, tossed him, flipped him and mocked him. Who’s to say the original injury couldn’t have been corrected with immediate professional medical treatment? But no, he’s hurt, so let’s cause more pain and make the damage permanent. I really cannot understand how jailers can disregard an inmates health so blatantly? Screw the damn money saving policy. I know personally that jail medical staff are hacks. They will ignore proper care of an inmate, instead choosing the cheapest alternative to save the jail money (frequently the ‘cheapest alternative’ is No Care at all.).

Ive allways been scared to be in a patty wagon ! In the summer time they take forever to take you out once arrived to the jail. Ive told myself to calm down while in there i almost had a panic attack once and i was sweating . My fear is to end up in water while being cuffed and closed in .smh im a woman that has been arrested before by new haven police i can honestly say they dont care at all!
