The mad scientist is at it AGAIN!!! This is NOT a bucket with a wire in it, it is so much more..... I made the SSB contact at 100~ watts to NC, and a few FT8 contacts at 10 watts.
Follow the next few videos about it for complete review and performance. I really want to put this thing through it's paces to really see what it does.

I own the COMPACtenna 2M/440+ and its ground plane kit and it has been a powerhouse for me. If they are going to be offering an hf version, I’m sure going to be giving it a strong look!

Oh my yes. That is absolutely perfect for my home situation. Wondering how well it would work plopped on top of a parked camper.

About as good as a spiral of aluminum flashing in a bucket can do.

Eric, thanks for showing this. It might be what I need to avoid the HOA police. Whlse going to complain about a bucket on the back deck? I have 2 of his HF antennas ( both discontinued) and the 2/40 mobile antennas which I've had good success with. Now the dreaded wait until it gets released. Maybe by Hamvention??? I hope so!! Once again thanks and keep the videos coming!

2 years in a row, i am using my own design 20$ parts antenna, less than 15ft over the ground, resonant on 80 and 17 for some reason: I have a band for local coms and a DX band,.longest phone comtact 9000km, lots of contacts at 5-6000km into sth america and europe from canada. Maybe i should start mass production and drop it on the market ;)

I dunno.. I had a COMPACtenna that was supposed to work from 40-10m.. It would never tune up in the phone part of the bands, it was always just under where the acceptable swr was. I guess I could have used it for digital but I didn't take it with me the last time I moved. I'm not going to take another chance on their products, I was stuck with it, couldn't return it, couldn't use it for what I bought it for.

Ok if I can manage to get one of these I am making a sticker for the outside to make it look like a Heathkit dummy load can! Just going to own the jokes before they are made!

Ok, not rocket surgery. What you have there is a radiating coax, looks like about 25-30 feet, no RF choke and I'm guessing there's a coil inside the bucket. We know antennas on the ground work, not great, but can. The entire "antenna" includes the coax, not just the bucket coil. Will it/does it work? Obviously it does and could be a viable solution for HOA hams. My issue is that a ham hasn't already tried this approach or some variation of it in his search for a solution to a HOA problem. Not rocket surgery to be sure and a [horrible] compromise for anyone who isn't in a HOA situation. I don't want to offend or rain on anyone's parade, but just point out there's no Wizard of Oz here, just regular, very basic radiation going on. Again, very limited application, a last resort.

I'm planning on having doctor jack on video explaining it. It's a bit more than a coil of wire inside.

I'm sure there are even if there's a handful of inductors and caps. Consider the Chameleon or the Alpha tuning devices which permit the use of short radiators. In both camps they seek to resolve interoperability by providing a workable solution for some difficult situations. This device is of that same intent; to provide a solution for those who haven't any other way to get on the air. So back to my concern which is this: Hams who have the resources, however few they may be, should opt first for the dipole, the end-fed, the vertical, etc before jumping right into this device. Anyone who has studied the materials to get their license [should] know you can't get yagi or even a good dipole performance out of a device like this unless it's elevated and getting the coax off the ground. You were kind enough to show us the coax run twice (neat color by the way!) and I didn't see a choke at the antenna end; I didn't expect to see one. This antenna needs the coax to work well if at all. I can think of one guy who lives in a townhouse who just might be interested in something like this, so yes, I think we need to see things like this just as long as we all know the limitations of it.
