I've been thinking about getting a catapult because these days you can't just use a pellet gun (a riffle) as you used to be able to do when I was a kid. I actually own a Weihrauch HW100TK which is a stunningly good gun but am unable to use it other than on a firing range - got it for ratting. These days land owners want you to pay THEM to shoot rats and pigeons destroying THEIR crops which is quite ridiculous. So.... I've watched quite a few vids and read quite a few articles to decide if I want a TTF (through the forks) or OTT (over the top) type and decided that for me it's got to be the TTF type. Having trawled though hundreds of types I finally settled on the ProShot PPMG+ catapult in cast aluminium - I would have had the bronze one but can't stand the smell of brass on mi hands lol.
This catapult is beautifully designed with attention to detail all over it. From the wider and deeper forks, to the deep band areas, even the bottom of the handle is rounded so as not to dig in when holding. This catty was designed by Gamekeeper John - has a KZbin channel too with lots of helpful videos.
I purchased this from proshotcatapul... and it cost £65 inc delivery - a lot of money for a catty but you tend to get what you pay for. It also came with one set of thera-band gold bands to which the pouch was already fitted.
I'll keep you updated on my progress of learning this thing.
Also coming is the ammo, I opted for 9.5mm ball bearings which should be 'universal' for the purposes that I have - learning to aim and rat/rabbiting eventually - cost of these was £26.99 for 3000 which I think is a good price. Also I've ordered a cloth target box with a target hanging so I can salvage the used bearings and not waste them - this was less than a tenner.
I'm expecting this to take quite some time to master but I'll keep you updated.
I think I'm gonna have some great fun with this.
