I bought a TR86 in 1995 used, at 8000 hrs we gutted it and rebuilt the machine, at 11000 hrs the Cat 3208 engine failed. I bought a TR98 to replace it, put a reman 3208 in the 86 and my brother in law bought it, and is still going. Was an absolutely amazing machine that just kept running

We had two of the soybean and rice specials and there wasn’t anything that could out cut them. It would eat an 8820, gleaner, or case up. Down here in Louisiana we had tie vines really bad and the new Holland would handle them well. At times you would get into a patch of vines and it seemed like the whole field was coming right to you in the cab lol. We loved those old machines !!! I want to say we had the TR96’s I can’t remember it’s been 20 years. But honestly we had 3 JD 88 series combines, and 2 gleaners and nothing would stay running all season but the new hollands. We sold them all except the two TR’s

In 1991 they decided to focus on auto manufacturing. They had been looking to leave Agriculture machines since the early 1980’s. They were in talks with Sperry Rand to sell them Ford Ag in the early 80’s. They then reversed course and decided to buy New Holland. Ford New Holland became the 3rd largest farm equipment maker in the world overnight. This added value to the company. In 1991 Ford struck a deal with Fiat by trading New Holland for a Fiat European truck division. It was a win win for both companies.

I yes me destroyed a TR with a 3208 V8 cat back in the early 80's. Downed corn in a rocky field and a rock trap that was blocked. The granite type rock destroyed the inner frame that supported the rotors and after 3 weeks at the dealer then 4 trips back to the dealer the combine was declared unusable and sold for parts. No insurance. That season before the rock incident I buried the combine do much that 3 tractors couldn't pull it out. We had to pay a wrecker company with TWO wreckers to winch it out. Bad bad season. Thank god my family was there to support me.

We had a tr 95 with some 96 upgrades. It was a machine that did all of our crops. 30 some. But not extremely well. Radishes were its claim to fame. And that’s what we originally bought it for. Everything else our neighbors case 2188 did better and or the other neighbors 8820 titan 2. Thing I loved about it was the easiest to clean out grain tank I’ve ever been around.

Could you combine clover seed with this machine?
@adamkruskama8455
@adamkruskama8455 3 жыл бұрын
@@alicameyers3224 if you had the clover plates installed and the small grain concaves it did very well in red and crimson clover. I never did white clover with it I would probably want vanderzan concaves for landino or Dutch white clover. You need the slow down kit for the wind and you can modify the return. The return elevator was the limiting factor in most small seed as far as ground speed.

bigtractorpower Thanks! It didn’t appear that this machine had tilt. I worked for a dealer for the 86/96 introduction and took three customers to an introductory event at the factory. We flew out of Bloomington IL in the middle of a snowstorm. I think that I still have the belt buckle! We lost the NH contract soon after. I also went on the Allis/Gleaner “Silver Streak” intro of the new R50 and have that buckle too. Nice memories!

Interesting history, lucky NH had rotary combine as ex International who working International rotary combine jump ship n gave NH all the details but NH was sued. International won but later on merger would have been end of compensation. TR combine is very popular, as I have 3 mates who own TR85 n there was TR 85 for sale near home. CAT motor was a problem n some of mates have replaced CAT for later engine in model after TR86.
