What is it about chickens and ducks forging on a well manicured lawn that just make you smile inside? :)

We raised chickens ducks and geese.. the geese we're so much fun...in the summertime we would leave the back door open and you would get a funny feeling and look behind you and the male goose would be watching TV through the screen door...

My small ducks are just starting to get feathers and they still can't walk in to my coop
@musemgug11 жыл бұрын
well you are partly right. they shouldnt be allowed to get themselves too wet but its alright to let them play with shallow water and about 3 or 4 days of hatching they can oil themselves with their oil glands. no need to be too aggresive. calm down pal :)

So this may be a dumb question but... won't the ducks fly away? Obviously not these ones, but the older ones? I mean it's apparent that they're staying but ducks fly! ...don't they? haha
@ericadrummer629010 жыл бұрын
These breeds of ducks are all domesticated duck breeds. Meaning that these ducks cannot fly, so there is no need to worry about them flying away.

Erica Drummer every duck can fly but they have to be 7 months old I know this because I work on a duck farm and I'm only 10
@juliefrancommills22735 жыл бұрын
Adult ducks by 7 mo can fly away. And they will if you don't have a covered pen. Predatory birds grab them too a fact

Who is this dude? This so called expert should warn people that an incubator hatched duckling does not get any oil from it's mama like one hatched naturally. They should not be allowed to splash around in a pan of water because they don't have the oil and if they get their backs wet they'll chill and die. They shouldn't be allowed to swim or wade until they grow their feathers out if they're hatched in an incubator.
