NEW HONDA ADV150 buyers overview review test drive start run demonstration ADV 150 Scooter

I was looking for a good USA real-person demonstration of the Honda ADV 150 before I bought one. I did not find what I was looking for. So, I had to just buy one. Yes, I am happy. I bought my new ADV150 from Mark Chase at Xtreme Powersports in Tampa, Florida. (813.826.6060.)
UPDATE: In two years of riding, it has been in the shop twice. Once for scheduled maintenance and the second time for bad gas (water in the gas). It has never failed to start even if I leave it sit for a month of vacation. I still love it and consider the purchase something I would do again.:UPDATE COMPLETE.
From the original post. I got the 5-year FULL HONDA warranty. It covers everything that is expensive, and it is unlimited miles. This is great because I plan on replacing the high cost of driving my Jeep Wrangler around town with this. My estimation is that it will pay for itself in 2.2 years in gas savings.
I saw an article from the insurance company last night that claims that scooter-type vehicles are the safest to drive over, motorcycles and mopeds. That makes me feel good.
I am getting the full coverage from Progressive Insurance soon, but it is not required. In Florida, my home state, you are required to take a class as this scooter is classified as a motorcycle because it is capable of up to 80mph. But 61 mph is about the top speed for my weight. To get 80 mph, you would have to be like Karen Carpenter on a three-day diet.
The police do know these are 149 cc as the Lic Plate does identify that to them. Who knew? So no faking it. But really, if you get pulled for speeding in this, you must live in a senior center.
The acceleration is pretty good. It will get up to 25 real fast, and then it slows down in upper-end acceleration. Again, with my weight. My daughter, who weighs 89 pounds, can fly on this machine, but at 11 years old, we don't let her go farther than 30 miles from home without calling us. Sorry, a little joke.
The question is always, "would you buy it again?" So far, yes. Ask me in a year, and then in four years and eleven months. Just before the warranty goes out.

Had mine going 67 mph. I’m 6-5 230#. 0-50 takes about the same time as going from 50 to 60. Wouldn’t take this on the freeway. Bought it for my wife but it’s so easy to just hop on and go I ride it all the time. Suspension is great for a little bike even for a big guy. If they came out with a 250 I would break the sond barrier getting my wallet out.

@@kf4293 Pretty much dead flat where I ride back and forth to work on a 50 mph road, so don't know for sure. I wouldn't expect much going uphill; it struggles to make 50-55 in a moderate headwind unless I go into a tuck position. I think it could maybe pull 30 mph up a modest hill though.

Nice Review, I'm from Philippines and also owned one . It can go speed from 70 to 72mph depends on road condition and Riders weight. I would like to share simple tweek by changing the flyball 17grams straight (stock is 20grams) to gain torque without loosing top speed. Also look for best quality washable air filter replacement. Due to Honda limiter of ECU you can't go top speed 75mph or above. (Friendly reminder clean your cvt / crank every 3700 miles odo or lower) to prevent dragging issue and maintain smooth ride. Also maintain change oil. 😄 Ride Safe!

Thanks for the review. You're right that there isn't much in the way of US based reviews. My wife and I have a Triumph Bonneville T120 but have been looking for a second, smaller displacement bike, for shorter trips or running errands. We had a 400cc scooter in the past and at times miss having the under seat storage. We've been looking at this and also the Yamaha Xmax (which is a 300cc but not a whole lot more expensive).

@Mike Williams, its so cool to see people appreciate small displacement bikes.i live in a small island country and all bikes must be under 150cc for 4 strokes and 100cc max for 2 strokes. So i grew up with small bikes. I have a 2016 Honda Airblade 125cc LED. Most Hondas share the same base engine with minor mods. Your ADV should be able to do 110kph out of the shop, and i doubt your weight would make much difference. I was surprised to hear you say it hits under 90kph. my airblade does 0-60mph in 8 sec, and it goes over 120kph. All i did to it is ram air mod with the airbox and use Royal Purple oil. If you drain your oil n put in proper type of royal purple for your engine, you will get a few extra bhp and it runs so smooth. Also get an iridium spark plug for it, as they add 5% performance. I never got the plug yet myself. But ur bike should be much faster, and if you could get it to do 110 or 120kph you would have a lot more fun and practicality. You can also get a nice exhaust pipe for it which will add boost of performance and nice sound. Asian market exhausts are superior to others, amazing sound and power etc for cheap. Have fun man!

the small displacement should be perfect for you especially if you use it for short trips around town + it has luggage capacity compared to sport bikes without any luggage

For anyone who's curious this is actually tune to run on premium unleaded and get one extra horsepower Peak and climb much quicker up to its horsepower and torque but meeting Euro 5 emission standards and being based off of the pcsx if you put regular unleaded on it it revert back to the PCX tuning which is 13 and 1/2 horsepower at 10.3 foot-pounds of torque on premium unleaded fuel it is 14 and 1/2 horsepower at about 11 foot pounds of torque if I remember correctly.

Grip puppies will solve the sticky grips. The ADV is a great looking scooter. I wish they would import the ADV350. I put a little deflector on top of my Burgman’s windscreen ($30+ on Amazon) and it works great. Ride safe.

There are loads off reviews but there mostly in Tagalog, there is a mod with the mirrors that mount in the cutout off the screen plus there’s a lot of crash bars and pegs plus the rear mount for a box on the back , they are there it’s actually hard to find one in English anyway good review thanks

Yeah tight roads and heavy traffic in the Philippines so majority turn to sub400cc motorcycles- scooters for less effort during rush hours. Got my adv150 for about 2 months now and it handles very well than its skinnier counterparts. Suspension is excellent :)

In Cedar Rapids,Iowa where I purchased my 2022 ADV 150 they just got in a 2021 ADV 150 with 63 miles on odometer. It sold quickly for more than my 2022 did. Used scooters are hard to find at this time.🤔

Good review. You definitely hit some points that other reviews don't. I particularly like that you mentioned the warranty cost. I weigh about 167 lbs. I was shocked to hear of your top speed, even at your body weight. Am I overreacting? I otherwise think I'm loving the design of this scooter.

Can I ask a couple questions about insurance? Do you mind telling us how much you pay to insure this for a year? Is this scooter paid for in full or did you finance it? 100 bucks a year for the warranty with no mileage limit seems like a good deal, especially considering that we don't know how well the items on this new scooter model will maintain, but my dad has always had a philosophy to gamble on no warranty if one can afford to pay to fix problems on their own. That will probably depend on how well this sells and how much demand Honda sees in the US for other/bigger scooters. Personally I think the ADV 750 would sell better here than the NC750X, but that's certainly just my opinion.

Some adv owners told.me, if you do sudden hard braking, the rear blinker automaticaly flashing very quick to let people behind you know that youre on emergemcy braking...have you try that feature?.i want to buy this bike..just curious on the full features of the bike..thx

I can go at least 65mph (105k) on a 150cc scooter. Body weight will have an affect at low displacements.

I think the step thru of the Yamaha BWS is definitely a plus over the "hump" on the ADV...I'd rather throw a leg over my bike than maneuver that weird hump. And the BWS instrument cluster looks superior to the tiny numbers of the cluttered ADV cluster. Other than that, I'd take the ADV with it's 14" wheels and nicer styling/design over the BWS...if it were available in Canada. I guess I'm getting a BWS. Also, I hate the way that Honda reversed the turn indicator and horn a few years ago...."C'mon. man...what's with the, you know the thing" - Some senile old tyrant.

Fuel consumption seems high. 36kml, some here in asia get something around 45kml. Could be you being 300lbs.

Have you looked at the price of any scooters? The PCX this is based on is $3999, a Suzuki Burgman 200 is $4999...even a Kymco 50 is $1999. I get that it seems expensive but for the right person it's an investment. Cheap insurance and great fuel mileage. Plus it's a Honda so it'll probably hold it's value.
