I agree. I built my house, completely on my own in the evenings and on weekends, in 9 months. 4,000 sq.ft two story craftsman house with full basement and three bay garage, from the footers to the last trim nail.

I love the pride you take in your builds. It seems to be a forgotten trait now a day’s. Most people cut way to many corners, opting for the quick way. I was raised like you, do it right the first time so you don’t have to come back and redo it. You remind me of my dad who knew how to do most everything and not scared to tackle anything. I think you’d be a fine man to have as a neighbor.

Wonderful. Straight, sturdy, simple and clean! I started framing in the 80's. I wish They would just let me be..engineered drawings,the way things are permitted. When I say that..I fine being reasonable. You used to be able to grab some graph paper, draw up a design that met a reasonable code, paid a flat rate..good strong quality result. Not no more....they have things regulated to death with more steps and waste..inspectors and government workers and a whole lot of time money just wasted on bullshit. I love what your doing!

Great looking house! The only thing I might have added was on the high side, maybe wrap the porch around from front to back. I love the wrap around porches and have always equated them with country homes. I was going to have a metal roof put on our house until I got the $22k price tag.
