From someone who's owned a construction business for over 20 years: That's not the proper saw for cutting a gate. You also should have snapped a chalk line across the bottom of the gate in order to make a straight cut across. I'd get a pavement steamroller to compact those stones down. It will create a more even surface, and less rocks will kick up and hit your cars as you drive over them. If you want lights along your pathways, I'd dig a trench first for the electric to run through before laying down all that stone.
@sam-sq4si
@sam-sq4si 5 жыл бұрын
Or just get little solar path lights, so cheap and no wiring needed.
@thehauntedmansionfan

@@sam-sq4si That area to the side looks quite shaded. I'd put in electric landscaping lights. Solar lights don't last long and can look cheap.

Looks kinda weird the sleepers in front of the garage doors, I know you don’t use the garage and it’s blocked off on the inside but you wouldn’t know that from the outside. Think it would make more sense without them

you need more landscaping. you should reinstate the border that ran perpendicular to the front door. more plants. and even though it's not a garage, you should have it look like they are accessible because the sleepers up against is strange. oh god, imagine if after all that work and money it ends up looking exactly like it did before you started. eek.

Oh my goodness, Anna looked about 15 in that flashback video! Johnathan come on, Alessia was clearly saying ‘Daddy camera’, as a Mummy and teacher who has taught from pre-school age up to twelve, I am an expert at decoding babies and toddlers! I absolutely love watching your children as they grow and progress! My babies are closer to their teens than I would like so I love being reminded of that precious stage! Andrea clearly loves the camera, he so reminds me of Johnathan, he honestly is such a happy little guy! The stone in the driveway is beautiful! Can I ask if you plan to renew your roof tiles, they didn’t look great in this video and could explain dampness in the attic as mentioned earlier.

It is beautiful, but just Curious why you paved your driveway and then covered with gravel ?? In the US - this is backwards. no we had a driveway and it was tarmac over years it broke up.Yes it was going to cost a lot to have it done so we put small gravel down.[like jonathan had before that he has just covered]we regret it nightmare keeps coming into the house.[just like was happening at jonathans].Personally we would like the whole thing done in tarmac but just to much to pay for at the time. we are in the uk.Personally i suppose its just a choice .I am not sure what was under the gravel I think he said a tarmac driveway.I think we would have just removed the top gravel if there was a nice tarmac driveway under there.But Jonathan seems to like this look which is fair enough at least the stones are bigger. which is a good thing .no ones backwards in the uk lol laura58

your own mental health is always the priority, who cares if one vlog was missed? You’ve been doing this consistently for 10 years, with no big breaks or time off. At the end of the day your own feelings and taking care of your family are what matters most :) also the driveway looks great!

What a mess you’ve made of the drive! I’m a Landscaper and would have done the job in half the time and probably at half the price! The problem is I live in Yorkshire! Still love the updates though!

Is it common in England to have stone driveways? It looks beautiful, just don't see it very much in my area in Canada

no lots of people just have tarmac driveways .Its cheaper to have a gravel pathway .But i think Jonathan said he had a tarmac driveway then covered it in a layer of gravel.Then did not like that I presume he could just have removed the gravel but he wanted stones.so then the larger stones came

In Canada, you need to shovel and dig out after a heavy snow, having gravel would be a pain. You would just shovel and push all the gravel away.

@@bridgieoh9326 we do get quite heavy snow[but not like canada] last year there was quite a bit.Years ago there was loads of snow.Then for several years we got noneLast summer we got this huge heatwave went on for over 2 months and did not rain at all.the weather is all over the place in the uk.This year its been a mild winter even reached 73 in the middle of winter very weird for the uk.no i dont think the gravel would work well in canada

How are you gonna get in your garage with the sleepers in the way?

Jessica Rose they don’t have a garage, they converted it into a room as part of the house instead, it’s the one beside the downstairs of Jonathan’s office. When they bought the house the garage was where that room is and Jonathan’s office was like a separate annex. Now it’s all just one connected building.

Hi Jonathan! I am in south Florida and have some wonderfully bright colored Bougenvilia planted in several areas close to my view from inside the home. They are inspiring while enjoying them in bloom pretty much year round (they are thorny though, strictly ornamental). I think that there are several places that you could plant these (or even a climbing rose bush) especially in the drive area closer to the house. Too bad I couldn’t post a picture a pagoda built out from the garage with a beautiful climbing bougenvilia in a fuchsia color (deep pink/purple color) or I would for ideas. I am not certain if it is indigenous to your area but pretty certain it would grow, with care to be covered perhaps in your frost/snow season. It grows as far as zone 8 in America. I really enjoy seeing your gardening projects, want to get your “nanotechnology” mini chainsaw. Enjoy watching Anna change the interior of the home as well, beautifully done! We have missed your videos! 🤓🙂🙃🌺🌴 💕
