You have to let the ice maker run and make ice until it's full then dump that ice. Also, run water through the tap part, but only after you change the filter. Yes, there is a filter. Lastly, the problem could have been just the pipes and such in the old house. But, likely, in my opinion only, it's needing a filter. 😉 I look forward to the rest of the tour. Have a blessed evening!

I think I literally have that fridge, Jessa. What I had someone else do is replace the filter, replace the hose in the back for a new one, re-attach everything, then let the water run for 3-4 pitchers of water and dump it out completely until it runs clear. Then throw out the first batch of ice and sometimes even the 2nd if it isn't clear. The repairman said that a lot of people will simply replace the filter but then not let the water run through and that's how you get that icky taste. Good luck!

While I'm sure that you cherish the memories that you made at your little house, you will once again make new memories to cherish here. Never worry about your house being "perfectly" clean. The house is gorgeous! Love the table - it is perfect - and so are the couches. I agree with the light furniture. It looks good but so unpractical, even for adults. Life happens, and even dark blue jeans can leave blue fluff behind and light upholstery just seems to attract stuff that stains. I won't spill on a dark fabric - but give me a light one and it's got a mark w/in the first 2 weeks.... Fridge - depending on the age, maybe try the filter replacement, but don't bother spending much time or money on it if it's over 5 yrs old. They just don't seem to last as long as they used to, you will likely need to replace it closer to 6-10 yrs old so that new one can have the good ice / water. We had a new fridge/freezer that only lasted 3 years before it needed repairs so expensive it wasn't worth it and we had to buy a new one. We had bought it at Sears and with the issues they were having at the time and store closures, we got nowhere with them honoring the replacement they promised. Replacing the line & filter *may* work, but if there is any sort of reservoir inside, you would need to be able to get to that to clean it and any lines leading from there to the output nozzles. The reservoir could have had some mold grow in there if it sat for too long and that would need to be cleaned out. Unless you can get to the entire water system and remove it to clean it with bleach, i'd not trust it if it is putting out mildewy tasting water. It isn't worth the risk. I always let the filter go longer than they recommend, and it never puts out that type of tasting water, so that is why I think it is more than the filter. You've got the Berkee and an ice workaround for now. Save the headache! Use it till it dies and take the time to decide on what you want for the next fridge so when it happens, you can move quickly.

Jessa, the dining table is beautiful as is the entire home you have created! Good job! You might consider getting those round felt pads (they stick on) for the legs so they slide easily on your floor and won't scratch it. You can also get square ones and put two on the each of the bottoms of the bench for easy sliding. I use them on all my furniture. There is also something called chairs socks for the legs of chairs but the pads don't show and are hidden and look better. Just a suggestion for you. Teresa (Nashville, TN)

It is wonderful when family comes for the holidays. There is plenty of room for the dishes they bring. I kept the fridge that came with the house and I had one of my own. I was surprised how much I use it. The kids know to pick out individual cheese sticks, along with fruit of the week and a water for snack after school. They take them to a picnic table in the yard. We have an appliance repair company, and yes you can purge the lines, and run bleach water through them. On some models, you can even change the lines. Change the internal filter or have a bypass installed and go the less expensive route and have an external filter on the water line leading to your fridge. (Those are not model specific unlike what is in your fridge.) I would not suggest painting the fridge. It will look pretty for a little while, but not long. If you really want white purchase that, and use this fridge as a spare.

I use an old picture frame and put coordinating fabric on the cork to match my decor. When I’m tired of the look in my house, I also change out my cork board fabric. It’s a super cheap way to update the look and it’s practical. It will be very easy to add hinges on to access the panel but if the picture frame is big enough to cover the panel than you certainly can just hang it like a regular frame.

Don't you still need to access it? So something that can be moved aside easily.

You should put the kids water color art and have it all framed in a giant frame, that would looks so cool!

A welcoming home filled with love and comfort. Thank you for sharing Jessa! I love how you kept the cabinet door artwork on the island, which looks like a beautiful woman in the upper right corner. Hope you will now see her too!! Blessings to you and your whole family.
