Time, and trial and error. The game is made with Unity, and probably uses a lot of pre-made assets that can be bought. That helps a lot. I made a full length game solo in RPG Maker MV using bought assets. With several versions of the game, across two versions of the RPGM software, it took over two years to get to the final version. It's called Jack Hoth: The Legendary Journey if you're interested. Point is that anyone can make a game if you're willing to put the time and effort into it.

@@randomannoyance it is what??? 1 minute hunts and no 5 minute safe timer. You can legit do all of the objectives and leave in your five minute safe timer. Professional legit has hunts that last a full minute and has no safe timer.

I'd like to see more variety in mission types. Ghosts that wont attack without a lot of provocation, and the goal is to find out why they are haunting a location. Ghosts that can have two rooms that they wander between. I also think they need one more ghost to fill in some of the gaps. A little bit faster so it can be confused with a revenant, a little bit slower blink rate so it could be confused with a phantom, and evidence of Fingerprints, Ghost Orbs and ghost writing so Poltergeist is no longer as easy to get.

​@Naganata Revs are EMF, Fingerprints and Writing, EMF/Writing could be Shade/Oni/Rev, EMF/Fingerprints could be Banshee/Rev and Fingerprints/Writing could be Spirit/Rev. So not really, but during a Hunt you can find out. Just remember to bring your smudge sticks :D

There are other types of ghosts, but they are non-interactive ghosts. Like the mist, the orb, and others. Maybe the developer will find another interactive ghost to add into the game.

What I’m really curious about this update is how the new ghost AI might affect Revs. If the ghosts are now programmed to actively seek a way to get line of sight back that could be deadly for revenants, especially on larger maps where turning a corner used to just do the trick for getting them away. Chills!

They should still slow down until they regain LoS. On the big maps that should still allow for time to dive into a room, or weave around some other halls to keep LoS broken. Or they will track you like a bloodhound and have to be tweaked to be a bit more fair. Such is the way of early access games.

I really love this update! The game always had a scary atmosphere, but after playing a bunch of missions you inevitably start noticing that the ghost you're so afraid of isn't actually that adept at finding you, and it takes away part of your fear. Now that they have become more intelligent threats, that's about to change. Never thought I'd say this in the context of it being a good thing -- but I'm glad we've got something to stress about again. :P

Earlier today I got hunted at ~85% sanity by a Banshee on Edgefield within only a couple of minutes of starting. I hadn't even found the bone and had only just found the ghost room. Could just be a random unlucky chance, I suppose. I was in the garage stepping into the dining area when it spawned basically on top of me. I snapped a photo while back pedaling into the garage (opposite of where it was heading) and ducked behind the front of the car. It never saw me, so I dunno how different it might have been behaving, hunt wise. In a few games last night though, I noticed the ghost seemed to be better about finding the general area where players are hiding when not actively chasing someone. Could have just been coincidence, but on Bleasdale the ghost came immediately down from one of the upstairs back bedrooms and paced around the kitchen area when I was hiding in the bathroom. It did that a couple times, but didn't actually discover me, thankfully. Good times.

Hello, hope your having a great day, love the video, I have been playing some of the new update myself on the beta branch, and I’ve noticed that the hints are a lot harder, I was on edge field and the ghost was on the top floor, I was trying to get a photo of it so I would only be slightly ahead of it, but I would still break line of sight a lot, and the ghost kept following me down corners and even followed me into the back basement room, where I died. Overall, on these smaller maps I definitely think looping will be a great strategy

I wonder how this will affect the Wraith, as if it returns to your last location it may just see you sitting in a locker or closet much easier, making hiding extremely ineffective, as it usually would enter the room you're in and just see you in the closet. If it only kept the old AI for the Wraith, as like a weakness of short memory, that would be good for lower difficulties, but on higher ones keeping the new one would be quite challenging, and make it plenty interesting.

You did get the EMF 5 in the truck trick, I saw it pretty early on in the video. Just look for the activity to jump by increments of 4, sometimes you'll get a false read if the ghost does 2 things at once(i.e. throws a book and moves a door), but if it shows up multiple times that's EMF 5. I usually just hold the EMF until I get it confirmed at that point.

We usually do that when someone does the spirit box, the rest of us watch for ghost orbs. It's kind of a tradition that we do the spirit box alone and 'bully' someone into doing it.

I think this new behaviour will make the Jinn quite a bit more threatening, at least until you find out you have a Jinn. Unlike the Revenant, it can recover quickly from a broken LoS.

Dirty water technically could be done with some ghosts when their favourite room isn't anywhere close to any sink - wraith comes to mind since it sometimes teleports to You - one could just stay in some bathroom a bit and count on luck. Phantoms supposedly were seen navigating towards players position too. Banshee also seems to follow You around, but that might be fatal in consequences due to their "ignorance" of sanity levels.

An easy fix for that could be if it's an everyone ghost then there NEEDS to be more than one person in the room to get activity. But have that disabled for solo missions.

Revs got a MASSIVE buff from this if you think about it. Like getting away from a Rev is near impossible now if you're in a hallway because it'll almost always enter the room it last saw you near.

I think it's Jinns and Wraiths we should be afraid of. Revenants are still slowed down when they can't directly see you, which gives you plenty of time to turn another corner or two before it enters the room. Jinns however don't suffer that speed penalty and will always be right on top of you. And Wraiths.. they've got their eyes on us, and no wall will stop them. :'(
