They've always heard you, just not during the hunt. One time in the school when I was new, I realized I was alone and asked on the radio where everyone was, then I said I'm coming outside! As soon as I said that it started hunting, and me being new I didn't realize the exits lock. I died 😆

@@albinskold8792 as far as i know, you can be heard during the regular gameplay and sometimes the ghost responds by interactions. however during hunts, i believe the ghost ai mostly used line of sight to find and kill victims. the new update is more of to make it easier for the ghost to find you by following your voice, thus making it more difficult to hide during hunts

Me and my friends played in the beta branch earlier and we took advantage of this voice recognition, we went in each corner of the ghost room and kept making noise making the ghost stuck in the center trying to decide who it's gonna kill, we bursted in laughter seeing the ghost dance, and the ghost was a mare! I do hope they fix this exploit though!

what happened at 15:08 was the ghost saw you just after the smudging, so it went to your last known location (right outside the closet) happened to not hear you talking (might be key phrases, a volume threshold or just not working properly) and you saw him clip through the closet door slightly. you can see his arm slightly before nuzzgard notices he's outside at 15:11. smudges, while obviously useful in a pinch might not be as useful with the new tracking if they still go to the last place they saw you. love watching your stuff nuzzgard, keep it up.

I've heard that they are planning to release a follow-up update where they introduce a new ghosting behavior: ghosties (especially female) will abruptly cut off all contact with you by no longer responding to any of your attempts at communicating with them (percentage of triggering this is influenced by your verbal interaction with the ghost). well, so I'm really hyped for that

I find it funny how places like the high school, which according to in game lore, have been abandoned for decades yet every light switch works. There is plenty of graffiti inside so people have been going there, vandals irl would steal the electricity or the hardware. Maybe they could add a level above professional where the power in the building is off always.

I realized for the second hunt when you were in the master bedroom in the bathroom, the ghost was hearing your voice but tried to take the shortest way possible and I think the ghost assumed it would be the kids bedroom, which is why you always hear their footsteps to the right of the room. The ghost is trying to go to your voice but I think the bug is that its taking a path that is completely blocked off so then the time you were silent, it roamed again and then found the shortest path to your voice, now being to the master bedroom. Gotta say, loving this new update and AI! It's going to make the games even more fun with friends.

Re: Tanglewood "hallway ghost" orbs There is a bug that's been pissing me off for about five weeks now. If you get a foyer ghost on Tanglewood and you think there should be orbs, but you can't see them, place a camera OUTSIDE to the right or left of the garbage can. Clip it through the wall and you'll see negative space between the foyer and garage. Likely that's where the orbs are hiding. It's happened to me twice now. A teammate showed it to me. Someone had shown it to her. I hope they fix it. But, of course, w the phantom, you could take a pic. Unfortunately, if you're in a group of novices that don't know to look for when they take a pic, or your money-hungry teammate has used all the pics on ouija interactions, you're s.o.l. unless you know this trick.

Apparently the next update will allow ghosts to get you while in closets and lockers during hunts. They also open doors, as well as closet/locker doors during hunts. You can hold closet/locker doors closed from the inside to prevent them from opening closet/locker doors. They'll still be able to phase through normal doors though if you hold them closed.

The voice recognition is nice, but it seems pretty easy to trap the ghost AI because of it. Even with mics on and off, was able to trap the ghost on the stairs during hunts on the farmhouse maps (with the safespots underneath those stairs) while friends manuevered between (depending on where they hid while I pulled aggro). Your footage of the ghost physically clipping through the closet may be another example of that, hardlocking the ghost in that room as long as it hears you but doesn't see/hear anyone else.

My friend and I actually had a situation like this happen to us twice. The first was on Tanglewood; the ghost was in the foyer and we went downstairs to drain our sanity while we waited for it to hunt. (We had the 'prevent it from hunting with a crucifix objective') We had to mess with the crucifixes a few times since it was in such an open area, so we just went to the basement each time to prepare for a hunt. The first two times we were fine, the third we had been talking softly before the hunt (we always go quiet during), and I was making this stupid "barrier" of items just for fun, and I heard a footstep in the room. LO AND BE HOLD this dude comes sprinting down the stairs during a hunt and made a beeline straight for me. I died for the first time in what feels like ages. The other time we were in the Prison, and same situation; had to do a crucifix objective, and had to move it around several times. It was in the bathroom near A block, and so I went upstairs to the Security Office, while my friend hid in the bathroom upstairs right beside it. We were quietly talking through the wall and at one point after the third hunt (And third time moving the crucifixes) there was a step beside me. After another hunt my friend came to my room to talk for a moment, and we decided to migrate to the bathroom she had been hiding in. As SOON as we walked in I noticed the running water that hadn't been going moments before and right as I managed to warn her the hunt started again. We both got out and into a different room, and it was WAY closer than before. We barely got out. I love this- I love that eventually it'll start honing in on you if you hide in repeated spots, or talk too loud or too much. I don't know if that's it, but it has definitely kept me on my toes!

This could explain why a ghost killed me. I was already in a bathroom upstairs when a hunt started with my friend being in the basement (ghost spawning room), and he ran upstairs to avoid it. I was still talking while this happened because I figured the ghost would not go there not having seen me at all. But it deviated from my friend and seemed to come directly to me. It must have been because I was talking too much.
