NEW Hyundai Santa Fe 2021 review: the ultimate 7-seater under £50k?

After years of trying Hyundai seems to have built a proper premium SUV that can rival the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90, but it's got a bit of a problem...
And that problem is the Kia Sorento. You see, the Sorento and Santa Fe are built on the same platform (though Hyundai calls the 2021 Santa Fe a facelift for some reason). Both are similarly priced but major in different areas: the Santa Fe feels genuinely luxurious in places, whereas the Sorento is more intuitive on the inside and feels a bit more techy. They can also be had in hybrid form and, crucially, are both seven seaters. With its more luxurious feel and striking looks, is the new Santa Fe the car to go for?

I’ve owned a Santa Fe Phev for about a month now and I’m very impressed. 30 miles on electric only is achievable. Couple of minor niggles, DAB reception is iffy (may need a software update), and they have removed the ability to change the navigation volume from the steering wheel, you have to jab at the touchscreen which seems a real step backwards. And I know there is a lot of hardware under the floor but surely the fuel tank could have been a bit bigger, it’s only 47 litres..!

It is a great car based on price/quality. You didn’t cover the tech available that is onboard which is abundant, at this price point.

How did you get that cream leather interior? The only option on the configurator seems to be black, which looks a bit gloomy in comparison...

It's actually a light grey interior which is the luxury pack, that too adds body coloured mouldings and arches etc, suede headliner and aluminium accents on centre consul

Another good tow car ruined with small petrol hybrid power units, loss of luggage space etc. The biggest attraction of pre 2018 models were thier towing ability, Shame this new model is not available with the 2.2ltr diesel as it looks like a geat overall package

It is a very nice car. To drive around dropping kids off perfect. Yet if you will load this car with 5 people and loads of bags then travel 800 miles this 1.6 turbo after empty batteries will be doing 10mpg.

Nope, 40-45mpg. Just taken mine on holiday, four up with luggage.
