I'm am really excited about the transform tool update. But will the new algorithm apply to the perspective tool? I find myself using the perspective tool a lot, so if that has more clarity and no longer is as blurry I will be even MORE excited.

Layer folders.... YES. Modular interface (I assume this means it won't all have to fit within the container of the program window?)... YES!!! Image library seems like a great idea too, even for just colour reference, model sheets, etc. It's interesting that TV Paint is entering the rigging world as honestly the whole reason I love TVP is that it isn't all about this. I would imagine it would be hard to compete with software like Moho and Harmony since they've been doing it for ages, but hey, can't hurt I guess! I'd especially love if beyond character rigging, it also had some "environment rigging" effects, like having wind blow, etc. I personally would use that more. I use this software daily, so some of these upgrades I really, really appreciate! Release date?

TVPaint Animation12 is still primarily focusing on quality bitmap hand-drawn animations. The Bitmap Rigging feature is a new complementary tool, and we were aiming to give animators a way to speed up some parts of the animation process by creating simple bitmap rigs.

I purchased tv paint a few years ago and I could never get it to work on my laptop. I emailed customer service, and they told me I needed to destroy the little thumb drive with a hammer and send them a video of me doing so. I just think it’s odd that you need a thumb drive, in order to get the software to start, and then be told you need to smash the thumb drive. Now that this new version is coming out, I want to upgrade, but I’m afraid it won’t work again.

We all had a usb dongle as a license early on with TVPaint. Then they went to a more flexible cloud based license scheme. It works very well. You should go ahead and get it working!

Wow! So many cool things!!! but will the rigging system come in the way for working hand-drawn? I have always admired tvpaint for its abilities for hand-drawn 2D, and got a little mixed about rigging being implemented.

Well I think at least giving an option for it, even if you don't use it is a good add-on :) I could see it being used to help speedup tweening for a blocking phase, and then fixing the perspective and details once the motion feels decent. That way the hand-drawn aspect doesn't get lost!

TVPaint Animation is already natively compatible with M1 (and above) and TVPaint Animation 12 will be too. It will not use Rosetta to run on ARM Macs (M1/M2/M3...).

Wondering if could be added a frame inbetwening generating tool option like Dainapp for decrease workload or improve speed and corrections in workflow without using external software... Also a tool based on check and clean sketchy traces using a previous or selected cleaned frames, or character reference layer as guide, also automatic inbetweening line correction or line style and settings of those automatic cleaned frames for avoid a line wiggle. As 2D animation is hard and slow, it could help to artist and animators to focus on a more important details of the draws and avoid heavy, thedious and repetitive work in animation and stay away from art tieft tools like public AI tools. It may need more PC resources, but for keep alive classic 2D animation and not overload artist... would be interesting to see.
