Helicopters are equipped with such equipment that they provide a flight path to said location, either the pilot had some kind of health problem, or the Helicopter had a malfunction of some sort, there is also an article from Washington Post, saying investigators believe that the engine lost power due to turbine blades cracking inside the engine, don't know if that's true, but if it is, the weather would not have made a difference!

Should have been, but it is the individual pilots who make the decision to fly, not Air Traffic Control, based on weather. Most pilots can can only fly visually and would not attempt the flight in fog or mist. Kobe’s pilot was supposedly Certified in instrument-only flying, which is MUCH more difficult because of how quickly you can become spatially disoriented in full fog, clouds, etc. The average time to crash if your instrument skills aren’t great is 178 seconds, and it is always (every year) the leading cause of crashes. Add into this the hilly terrain and it was too much in this case, sadly.

Unfortunately the sad part of it all is the passengers had to have had a brief moment of shear fear knowing this aircraft and pilot was struggling to correct itself. Flying without safety instruments eg a blackbox and a gps tracking device in such uncertain conditions. He was extremely careless and casual even for an expert pilot. Accidents always happens in these kind of situations. It looks like the practise was more important than their lives. THE PILOT WAS TOO CASUAL AND CARELESS. If you fly frequently or even commute frequently. Your odds of being involved in an accident goes up exponentially.

MOST PEOPLE Do not realize the significant difference between flying a helicopter and flying an airplane. Airplanes are a stable craft with a co-pilot & an auto-pilot where as helicopters are not a stable aircraft to fly. Even under ideal conditions a Pilot flying a helicopter has his hands full literally. But in poor visibility & bad weather even the best of helicopter pilots can fail to fly it safely no matter how much experience they have. I believe that pilot error (poor judgement) due to lack of visibility on his part, will be the NTSB investigators final call on this accident in the end.

I don't think it's only on the pilot. As blaming it just in him still leaves a lot of other info or found evidences out. No black box, no TWA, Kobe never forced to fly under any bad circumstances, the pilot was very careful with his job, clean record, not even one mistake (not saying he was perfect) but the pilot had licence to pilot under these circumstances he was trained for this type of weather. .. idk is just too much flags.
