my farmer next door bought a new SMTA with a new mounted picker and had the 4-14 trip plow he used with his old 44 M that turned 52hp and bought a new 3-16 plow and farmed 500 acres. his backup tractor was a 46 H later a AC D17. in 63 he traded the SMTA with mtd picker for a 560 gas with a semi mounted fast hitch 4-14. and a pull type 2 row picker and a new 14ft 370 disk. at the end of a full year he said he made the biggest mistake of his life. the 560 did not have the power the SMTA had and burned 1/3rd more gas in a day.

That is a very nice looking Super MTA. I had one of those for years, only mine had a fast hitch on it. I heard once there was only about 250 of them which came brand new with a fast hitch on them. International offered the fast hitch to dealers, that had Super MTA ‘s on their lot, after the 400’s came out, it was a way to make the MTA’s sell. Because most guys were now buying the 400’s. The one I had was the only MTA I ever saw with my own two eyes with fast hitch, but I did see one on Facebook though. Watching your video, sure brought back memories of plowing with mine. I pulled 4 bottom 710 semi mounted International plows, mine was bored out and made 65 hp. With a M and W kit in it. I pulled a 12 fr. set of Oliver disc with it. That was a real nice tractor to plow with too, pulled them in 3rd gear in direct drive with no problem. Good luck with your tractor.

Excellent video Gino :) also glad got this Red Power Boom 💥 Farmall M T/A also remember my old senior neighborhood neighbor Bill have this same tractor and he love that tractor from brand new till sold in 2010 when fully retirement farming ! He told me had lots Farmall tractors and he stored when rain in my dad and uncle home farm machinery shed when rain on his farm ! But remember he showed me how started up and drive it too! How well tune he had Gas Farmall tractors Gino put power switch on , 1/4 throttle on plus choke and start buttons on full turn he say loud fire order 1,3,4,2 say boom there we go plus put clutch on and make sure Netural on gear shifter ! In 1 min left clutch pedal ! Remember one Farmall tractors headlights flickering bad he thought charging system failure and told I fix get solved ! What was the screws lose and corrosion on plus connector need replacement! Soon fix told check and fix so well he Lol said Andrew what do told him use light grease on lights bulbs holders plus power wire to ! He said owe one Andrew man and get working for me anytime we did! Gino for sure did and funny part Bill 98 years old since March 6 2023 he tell how smart farmer he was plus Foreman in Roads and Works Department Highway Patrol he did for 50 years! But tell love the funny stories of horses on work land just as horse power are same on engine jokes you Lol so hard be on ground Lol so hard ! You keeping 💯 on those Farmall for life time too!

There's no question you bought the best tractor at the auction. Gauges are easy to fix, you can get them at Bates or Steiner. I prefer the Bates ones but they are more money. Those early Torque Amplifiers will not slow you down but freewheel going downhill. The newer ones like the 756 has can be operated going downhill, but you don't want to apply them to help you slow down. I'm looking forward to seeing more of the Super MTA in upcoming videos.

Nice!!! My Dad had a Super MTA when I was growing up. His would pu the 370 disc 4th gear high torque no problem. It was his favorite to pull the 45 McCormick baler, and to pull the 90 Allcrop harvesting seed oats and seed beans.

My grandfather farmall H was a 1954, and those farmall M-TA was a power house tractor back in the day. It's a smooth running tractor that M-TA farmall I international white and a Oliver tractor's and the tractor I really like driving is the international tractor's because I driven international tractor's longer than any other tractor out I'm a red man and a international and a farmall fan 👍👍

We have a Super MTA too. We used to run it on the new holland mix mill and it had no problem with it and we had a 14 foot disc it ran too.

Another thing i have noticed. Thats smta has the mud scrapers behind the front tire. We have a one side set on our 41 m. It would be awsome to find a set for our smta. Yours was loaded with features. Plus i believe it had a hour meter. Thats something ive heard of but never seen.

I know that going down a hill you need to keep the transmission in gear and direct drive. If you have to go down with a very steep hill, you could always do what a semi truck does - use a lower gear and keep the speed down that way.

Your comment on the TA brought back memories my brother got on our brother in laws 560 IH to bale with a kicker and wagon. Well he turned down hill and decided it was to fast and pulled the TA instant free wheeling jack knifed the equipment but no damage and no injuries. Straightened it out got to where he started and stopped saying guess we'll wait for BIL. Enjoy your tractors Ieft farming over 30 years ago I missed the field work but not the dairy, I told someone I took a two week vacation and the cows never missed me.

Have good thoughts about a smta ,went up against one at a tractor pull about 30 years ago! He went first just flying down the track and started pulling hard he pulled his beloved TA and went alot further! The crowd loved it and cheered up a storm! I went next on a 1943 G John Deere hand start,1st gear and I swear it got darker out in that amount of time it took to go down the track! Long story short I beat the smta by 3 inches and you should have been there to see it!It's a true story and I'm sticking to it!

I believe that tractor should pull 3/14 bottoms in 4th gear. That power steering would make a big difference on a long day of plowing. I M O, the nicest tractor you have is this one. Really nice.

I have owned a super MTA , that had fire crater pistons. I was foolish and sold that one in 1994 for only $950 I Just had to have one back & 2 years ago I paid $3,000 for one that needs the front steering reworked and axle bearings ( as it had a picker on it for several years) I was dumb, and didn't know the grill was switched for a regular M grill. Then I picked up another SMTA ( correct grill) that just needs the motor redone, crank first. I got this one for $1250 . I still need to try and look in the spark plug hole to see what pistons I have I hope there the fire crater pistons!
