That was my thought, kindergarteners! I have a contract, in education, and if I quit in October, or March, I am responsible for reimbursing the district the months I do not work. This is pretty typical with contracts. I could not use the "I've already paid you back for the work I have already done!" I also feel really sad for these girls, because when, not if, MHJ decides move on from them, as she is pretty transient, they will literally be left with nothing. Those parents are also the problem. Ultimately, it is the girls who lose face, not MHJ or the parents or the NA. Their brains are not even fully developed, and yes they know the difference between wrong and right, but they are not yet at the biological stage of higher level functioning and cannot process this to the full extent. It is just a sad dilemma.

NJ/MHJ will lose the lawsuits, but even then companies will respond by making contracts more strict and even more in favor of the company than the artists. They’ll also definitely change up the wording on the termination clauses; the last thing other kpop companies want right now is their idols thinking they can pull a NJ by cherry-picking phrases from their contracts to free themselves, so the companies will make it VERY clear what the protocol is and how impossible it will be to win a case built on it in court, even in the case of actual mistreatment/violation. Smaller companies like those who rely more heavily on a single artists’ income will react strongest. They see how easily public opinion can be swayed, they see from stock prices and quarterly income reports how much money Hybe has lost the entire year due to this dispute, and the main case hasn’t even reached court yet. If this can happen the big dog, it can definitely happen to smaller companies, who don’t have billions of dollars to fall back on. They know this and will respond even more defensively. nobody said they cannot terminate the contract if ADOR/HYBE really did breach the contract. the problem is they just said they terminate the contract but not taking any action to terminate it. there are procedure they have to follow if they really want to terminate the contract. give proof to court that HYBE/ADOR really did breach the contract. i do not know about law but i do know there is procedure/SOP to everything. not to mention, HYBE is a conglomerat. so of course there are proper procedure to be made in everything they do. this case here make me feel like i am smarter than them🤦‍♀

KEPA, KMF and KEMA/CEMA are the three main groups with organizational power in the Kpop industry and they have been around for a good while. They have a good amount of influence in the kpop industry. As an example you can look into the boycott of Fantagio in the industry a few years ago which was innitiated by KEMA. so far only KMF and KEPA have released statements regarding Newjeans and their situation.

They were bound to a 13 yrs long contract that was often modified without their knowledge/consent, and brohibited from making any personal business endeavours/investments because of a contract they signed as teenagers... With all of that behind them, the battle was long, dirty and nasty... They ended up settling with SM but have been blacklisted from music activities for a very long time... which ended in them almost losing their careers and recognition... In 2009, at the height of their success (they were HUGE) but they didn't just stop activities, the 3 JYJ guys didn't just leave, they asked for a court injunction to halt their activities while the dispute was being brought to court... They risked it all and paid the high price... But at least thanks to them, the JYJ law saw the light which made the maximun contract duration for idols 7 yrs maximum... Kids these days just want to take success with no risk I wish you could talk abt the different idol lawsuits one day... vey interesting topic to see the evolution of these disputes.

MHJ is getting caught in the middle of a coup plan back in April. And it is act of breaching contract as a CEO. She argued that the plan isn't happening yet and it was all a joke, avoid internal audit. That's why she was removed from BOD. The incident had to do with Illit who are under a different indepedent HYBE label called BeLift. Their "manager" - read caretaker as in they make sure the Idol they take care of is on schedule (even drives them), gets their food and drink, etc. - supposedly told them when they left the make-up room to ignore her. Mind you we are talking about a girl than can barely understand basic Korean. And Illit on first meeting a few minutes earlier deeply bowed to her in greeting. The Ex-CEO had even before creating the group plans to steal the group, get as much money out of HYBE (guesses are at about 75 million USD) & possibly get the label. She gaslit the members - who she does not even like according to her Kakao messages that a news agency published - to believe that they are special and to only trust her like a second mother. She made sure that the only information about the industry is from her and that there is little to no contact with other personal/Idols under HYBE. The girls believe her and that she is the only reason they are successfull and that everyone else is lieing. Mind you the ex_CEO does not even like music.

My prediction (because I’m rational) is that New Jeans will lose any court case, it’s too important to contract law not just in K pop but across any industry. SK economic performance is of national importance and diminishing contract law is untenable. It would affect SK as an economic power globally. MHJ and those girls have been building this since the beginning. What do you think all those "leaked" documents were for? There are some that really blow my mind. Like I was a manager for a multi-million dollar company with multiple offices, every week they would collect the bad reviews and complaints from each office write a report and send it to the managers and supervisors for each office. We would have a meeting with the CEO to go over the reports to see what happened and what could be done to fix it. Names of employees showed up on the report saying bad comments. Does it mean the company wrote the comments? No, they copied and pasted. Them thinking that they can just say I quit when there is an investment and contract involved shows that whoever is "advising" them does not have their best interest at heart. Even the dispatch report is trying to tell them, "Wake up girls, the female only cares about herself and is still belittling you," and they choose to ignore that. I'm a new fan of the music and have learned that some of the other entertainment companies have had some of their artists say that they were treated badly or had bad contracts etc. but I don't recall or maybe I just haven't seen anything yet but I've never heard any of the artist's at HYBE saying anything bad until now with New Jeans. I've read or heard fans of other artists at other companies saying A LOT of bad things about BTS and ARMY and HYBE and even "fans" of the other groups under HYBE saying bad things about HYBE but nothing else. My predictions for the future of new jeans members : First, I believe that Min Hee Jin will eventually leave NewJeans and the group will inevitably disband. It is only a matter of time. For the members : Hanni will pursue an independent music career. Minji will quit the K-pop industry. She either will finish her studies (maybe she'll become a lawyer who knows) or she will start an acting career. Danielle will start her own KZbin channel and become an influencer. Hyein and Haerin will likely re-debut maybe as soloists under a different company.
