I bought my first (new to me) planter this year! I was on the search all spring and was searching for either a Kinze 3200 or a John Deere 1760 planter. I ended up finding a nice 1760, about 70 miles away. It came with a john deere 2600 display, ITC globe, and a Computrac 350 control. I've got pretty much everything set up, besides the vacuum system on the planter.
If you're new to the channel check out the first vid. It explains a little more about chasing the dream & starting to Farm- • I Bought My First Farm!

1760 is my favorite JD planter. They are so simple with very few things to go wrong. I have pneumatic down force, fertilizer tanks, shaft drive row units, and variable speed drive on mine, but otherwise its very similar to yours. You made a very wise choice. I've also owned an 8110. That's a great combination of tractor and planter.

Nice planter it's a perfect match for the tractor. We are currently planting soybeans here in southern Michigan. I'm currently cultivating ahead of the planter with a case 580 quadtrac and krause 50 foot soil finisher good thing I've got GPS and mile long rounds so I can watch KZbin . Dad is planting with a johndeere 9400t and kinze 3800 24 row planter. We run 2 planters and 2 cultivators . We have one planter on beans and one on corn . We farm 8000 acres and custom farm as well . We will start corn Wednesday once we dial in the bean planter and get ahead on tillage. I've been cultivating since 5 AM and I'll probably go until midnight or later . Great to see you living the dream ! Keep on keeping on my friend !

Make sure you hooked up sump dump hose to proper dump outlet. One of those hoses should dump the oil from the vacuum motor in a port which is typically below the hydro outlets and should dump directly into the transmission reservoir. Make sure you wire wheel that rust off of those opening disks or it will cake up with wet soil and cause you a ton of trouble. It does for me anyway. Read the manual and you'll learn more than most farmers know about running the planter and adjusting it properly.

We have a 1760 vac planter, great planter. To show vac pressure you need the seed plates in and seed in the boxes. There is also a lever on the tong that you need to put to plant when u want to plant. When u do that make sure the planter is all the way down on the ground . If that is a flex frame planter there is a come along in front of the vac pressure gauge that u need to take off on flat level ground when the planter is on the ground. Good luck and have safe planting seaon.

dont forget to "zero" calibrate your vac tho. Oh , I alway hook mine so you click forward to engage, then go on into "float to shut off. I think , you (spence)can just spin the seed drive tire to load the plates without actually lowering it an driving around. lets you visually see that there's seed drop, at each row too.

@@ttroy4804 When you have constant flow to yours, your hydraulic is locked in to detent right? (Meaning you push it all the way forward, and then down and that locks the hydraulic, along with the setting that you have enabled for the timer to be set to constant). Hope that make sense.

@@granthilbert5632thats the "float" position Grant. after you set your timer to "constant", yes you just push to engage, you'll feel the it click, and it comes back to center, now see the flow hash tages on the led screen showing its active?. then when you want to shut it off, push it again all the way forward into "dentent" you felt, you should see a wavey lines on the screen now.

Hey grant, on your 2600 display it’s documenting backwards because I think you need to calibrate your Tcm it’s supper easy to do and you bean look that up how to do it. Also, there is a black dial on the center of your planter you need to loosen that to allow your hydraulics for your wing wheel to go up and down. Obviously when you are down with a field you will lower your planter than step out and tighten that dial then raise and fold.

We run a 1760 John Deere planter, the vacuum builds only like 1 or 2 lbs if you only have the seed discs in, it does not build full vac pressure until you have seed up against the discs, also I noticed when you had the planter unfolded and lifted up that you didn’t have the wing wheels down, if you look in the center of the frame behind the marked knob there should be another hyd. Block with a knob on it and you spin it to put the planter into plant mode to set the wing wheels down and vise versa for road mode
@granthilbert5632
@granthilbert5632 3 жыл бұрын
I must have missed that! I messed with it to engage the end markers, but that would make sense. I didn't even think about that. Those wing wheels didn't come down at all and it did feel a little "tippy" will mess with that next time I'm around planter.
