Nightblue, You should try this build again, but replace Mejai's with Stormsurge. Stormsurge gives 95 AP, which is 50 AP Less than a fully stacked Mejai's and is a bit more expensive, BUT, and this is a big but, you will almost always trigger the extra lightning explosion on any squish enemy will trigger the "Squall" easily, since you deal over 50% of their health as damage and "Squall" only needs 35%, so it will give a second strike for 105+15% of your AP 2 seconds later on an area. Since First Strike lasts for 3 seconds, the second lightning will still fall inside First Strike's timer for an extra 7% damage and give you gold for it.

It's not even real ability haste. Just their half ass attempt to nerf CDR. Real ability haste actually makes the clock tick faster instead of just lowering the cd. If it worked like it should then your CD would be lowered even if you buy haste while stuff is on cd. As it is now you only get the benefit if you have it already before using an ability. They just wanted to sound smart and "fix" something instead of making it work right.

CDR still exist, ability haste is what you buy from items, but haste provides CDR just not as before. I mean, haste doesn't scale 1:1 with CDR, when you put your mouse on top ot haste it actually tells you how much CDR you have. They created haste so you can't actually increase CDR as much as before anymore, stacking haste gets less value because it increases less depending on how much you have. For example, 50 haste is almost 35% CDR i think but 100 haste is approximately 50% CDR.

ability haste (AH) is flat stat which convert to cdr which is % stat. Convertion is same as armor and mr works with equasion CDR = (1 - 1/(1+AH/100))

100 armor = you need to deal 100 additional damage to deal 100 damage 100 ability haste = you get to cast 1 additional spell for your 1 base cooldown duration Both of the maths calulculate to 50%, but this way of thinking makes math easier. 10 armor = you need to deal 110 damage to actually deal 100 damage. Thats 90.90(90)% reduction. 20 armor = you need to deal 120 damage to actually deal 120 damage. Thats 83.(3)% reduction. Taking % out of it entirely is probably better way of looking at it, and is a relic of Warcraft 3 system where 1 Armor gave you 5% armor reduction, 2 Armor gave you 5% armor reduction twice etc., making 5 armor an unwieldly "22.621% reduction". The way math was set up for the attack upgrades to also increase your damage by (about) 5%, so damage upgrades and armor upgrades cancel each other out.

so first strike gives you gold after damaging your target further after first hit, hence the name "first strike" it doesnt really give you gold for the initial hit, meaning doing a karthus R doesnt apply the second half of the keystone. It just gives you a +5 g for hitting them.
