Kimber are coming out with some great firearms in 2024. Have the original Mako and it’s very reliable

The undercut is amazing! I also like how the frame comes up around the mag release buttons. Should pretty much eliminate any accidental mag drops. First new gun I’ve seen in a while that I’m actually interested in shooting.

Another nice review! I think Kimber is onto something here in utilizing carbon fiber. I like all the texturing, too. As a Southpaw, it's nice to see it on both sides of the pistol and the other ambi features as well. 👍👍

Thanks for the video. Kimber is doing things recently and this one is worth a look for the cost and bubbets action type. I have multiple Muddy River holsters I like them and the business and owner are good folks in my experience. Be well Merry Christmas.

I like the look. It appears to be very ergonomic. It looks to be roughly the size of a Glock 19 but is more slim in thickness of the slide and grip.

Excellent review on a largely overlooked new offering. Kimber's own fault really, they only sell through authorized dealers, so few LGS have them in stock, so they're falling to the Chiappa trap of unique firearms, that are always higher priced and hard to find with no range rental opportunities. Fine if you want to be a boutique gunmaker, but if they want to play in the polymer 9 world, not so much.

At 21:50 is the pin above the mag release working itself out of place? Protruding slightly

Yes it was a bit. I popped it in place and have shot it multiple times since without it open. Thank you very much!

I have the version with the Optics installed and the threaded barrel and have shot a total of 850 rounds through the gun. About half compensated. The compensation does reduce the felt recoil. I like the gun and would highly recommend it. One thing that I discovered after shooting it the first time, was that the trigger was either pinching or pocking the pad of my trigger finger and after shooting for a while, I almost began forming a blister on my finger. So when I got it home and was cleaning the gun and inspecting it, I noticed that there was a slight protrusion at the bottom of the trigger. Kind of like a slight bump. So I took a very fine file and knocked that little hump off of the plastic face of the trigger. Doing that made a tremendous difference the next time that I shot the gun. It was much more comfortable to shoot, without the pinching. So if anything that Kimber could do to improve the gun, would be to eliminate that protrusion or slight hump located at the bottom of the trigger on the plastic safety portion of the trigger. The range bag is nice. I got 4 mags with mine and a plastic holster, but is was for the original smaller Mako model. The backstops are nice for customization. The serrations on the back of the slide could be deeper for ease of racking. My magwell does not rattle. It can be removed. How many times have you had a mag stuck in any gun? I've been shooting many different guns for many years and have never had a mag stuck in the gun. If that is a problem for you, then you can simply remove the magwell. It's easier to use your left thumb, that is already there in close proximity of the mag release button, to press the mag release button. The Holosun is difficult to shut off, requiring pushing both small Plus and Minus Buttons simultaneously. Also, if the optic is shut off and you rack the slide using the rear serrations, it is easy to hit one of the buttons which turns on the optic. One claim about the design of the slide with the closed top, is that it serves to keep the exhaust from coating the lens of the optic. It may reduce the amount of residue, but it doesn't completely eliminate it and if you shoot enough rounds in one session, the optic lens will become dirty. Finding a holster for the gun is a challenge, especially if you want a holster to accomodate the optic, a compensator and a light. I may have found a model that will work that is sold by Urban Carry named OWB LockLeather - RMR / RDS Holster. Muddy River Holsters doesn't make a model to accommodate the gun with a light or a compensator. A light that is really nice on this gun and costs about $150 is the Sig Sauer Fox Trot 2R, that I have for mine. It has a strong center circle light with wide diffused light around it. Comes with two rechargeable batteries.

Feel the same way when it comes to ambi mag releases; I always end up pushing against my own hand on the opposite side. It’s a cool feature in theory, but unless/until a mag release is developed where the buttons don’t move with each other, one will always be in the way. The Mako seems like a good value for sure, I just have a hard time getting over the bad rapp they’ve established over the last 10-15 years with quality and customer service… I’ve never owned one myself, for full transparency, but I’ve heard nothing but bad things from people who don’t absolutely baby their Kimbers (and just use them as range toys). Is that fair? Who knows, but time will tell I guess. Thanks as always!

Bubitz is spoken like Boo-bits. But not far off. Great design. What does that role pin hold? A reverseable mag release is prefered or paddles.

Kimber needs to stick to making steel guns. We have too many plastic Glockys already.

Hello. No, it is not. In the first part of the video I discuss how it’s based on a completely new design by Mr. Bubbits. It has a completely different barrel locking system.
