Kingdra is just going to be too slow to be viable. Running an evo line solely for some more options is meh

Kingdra will not be bad! heres why: 1. You can discard any 2 stages or 3 stage and then immediately put it from Ur discard pile onto the bench!! No evo needed! 2. (spoiler) There will be a Lapras terastilized ex card that has been leaked that let's u look at the top 20 cards of your deck and attach any energy u find to any pokemon!!

Stellar Lapras needs like 3 Colored Energy to begin with, so it's too much and too inconsistent. Kingdra is a Stage 2, whiffing 2 turns of no dmg alone is painful considering Boosted Hands can take you out super easy for 3 prizes. Future Box can setup 4 Crowns, and 2 Hands for like 1 turn. It is possible, remember?

2:04 So long as the ability isn’t negated (such as through Expanded’s Hex Maniac), you can’t play Palafin ex except for through Palafin’s ability.

To my knowledge, the last trainer card that disabled abilities in the discard pile was Hex Maniac from the XY era, and she is banned in expanded.
