Love having both the flipper + thumb opening and of course the button lock. I was at walmart's today & went to check out there budget priced knives, as well as, feeling the models in hand that I've been researching online. That little original CRKT is heavy and difficult to open and close. Its hard to tell from just videos.

I like the D10 steel, I'm not a fan of synthetic handles. The blade shape is a win for me. The acid wash is something I do not like, I prefer a protective Potassium Chromate Coating, or an old school mix of Bee'swax and boiled Linseed oil. One tip I can share is, for belt or pocket clips that are screwed on you can get some metal or even just some small washers and longer screws and put them between the base of the clip and the knife's scales. There are many ways you can modify a clip or other features on a knife if you have the right tools, and really there are no legal concerns unless you plan on marketing and making money off of your modifications.

I’m new to collecting knives. It’s addictive for sure. I’m partial to CRKT knives, not so much the G10 handles they’re using on most of their newer models. I like the steel. I’m sure the G10 is a cheaper material in the manufacturing process, but the knives seem cheap. I like a knife that will survive the next ice age. Just my opinion.

You apparently haven't used a spear point before. This is one of the most well rounded blade shapes in existence.

Your assumption is completely wrong. 1) Penetration is horrible. 2) The hollow grind doesn't lend itself to slicing very well. 3) It is much less practical and "well rounded" than my cleaver blades, clip points and drop points. Spear point is useless.

Spear point is literally the tip right in the middle in a straight line from the pivot, giving out a straight edge and belly, literally half and half. Tell me exactly how a drop point beats that in versatility

thanks, I had my hand smashed in the Navy, and later a car accident so I don't have much strength opening them up; but once open, I sure know how to use them. An assistated knife works for me.
