I have the standard CS Kukri Plus. The steel performs well and I'm not afraid of using it in heavy tasks. I'm actually glad I have the cheaper version because it would break my heart to get the inevitable knicks in the edge from the wilderness work I like using for. I will say that the guard the guard is great to have when processing fire wood or chopping through various materials but it had some pretty sharp corners and I had to round those off on the belt sander. I also wrapped the handle with hollowed 550 for bearhanded comfort and rounded down the flair on the palm side of the pommel for a more comfort as it was digging into my palm. (Xl size hand)

Just got my Manix XL that I ordered as soon as I saw this video. It is amazing! I love the smooth G10 it feels great! You don't lose any grip due to the shape of the handle. This knife could be covered in oil, and you could still have a perfect grip on it! Sharpness is great right out of the box, and since it is only .19 Ounces heaver then a regular Manix 2 it I can't even tell a difference in weight between them. I have always been a big fan of the Manix XL, but there have not been a lot of specials/exclusives with premium steel and different scales. I'm glad I was able to get this one and hope KnifeCenter keeps it in stock for everyone to enjoy!

I’d buy that SOG in a heartbeat if it weren’t at least $100 overpriced at 299. Aluminum and s35vn should deff be more affordable and for that price I can’t justify aluminum that will readily chip and scratch and lose it color. For that price it should have anodized titanium scales.

I can’t imagine you would get enough leverage with that nail puller for it to function properly considering it’s just flat and 2 dimensional. If you look at the shape of a hammer, a crowbar or a flatbar, there’s always a belly the tool has that acts as a fulcrum, giving you a super efficient power transfer that increases with the length of the handle. That expensive little thing has neither the handle nor the fulcrum you would need to effectively rip nails.

A quick solution for short handle knives like the Shrimp which also have a lanyard hole. Make your lanyard just long enough and small enough for you to slide in the first joint only of your pinky finger. Now grasp the knife as you would when ready to slice with it. Then slip in your little finger up to the end of the first joint and complete your grasp. Unlike when your hold a Minimalist and your pinky finger has to maintain a grip on its lanyard separately, in this case, the loop instead grabs your finger and secures the knife in your hand for you.

Maybe a question for DCA or Seth's consideration (I know Thomas will chime in regardless 🙂): walk and talk appears to mean how a slipkoint moves. But what are you looking for in walk and talk? For instance, I've learned on this channel that one-handed operation and ambi controls are major elements that contribute to an EDC blade's usability. So maybe I'm asking "what makes a great slipkoint"? Specifically, though, what does walk and talk really mean? Love the channel!
@arrowheadguys7637 Жыл бұрын
The walk is how it moves, the talk is the sound it makes. You want a smooth but snappy walk, and hearing those "snaps" as it moves from 1 stage to the next is what you want to hear.
@MLKusername Жыл бұрын
@@arrowheadguys7637 is this important for function, like it's easier to control? I'm sure it's an aesthetic as well.
@arrowheadguys7637 Жыл бұрын
@@MLKusername Its more a "bragging rights" kind of thing tbh. Its just feels more quality, and makes you like the knife more. However, the stronger spring it takes to give you a good walk and talk will help hold the blade open, decreasing the likelihood of it closing arbitrarily on your fingers.

The SOG pocket clip is reminiscent of the one that's used on the Acta Non Verba. I disliked that clip and removed it. Because the clip extends past the butt of the knife, the knife sits lower than the edge of the pocket, making it difficult to remove.
