Printed display plaque and cockpit are game changers. I'm super mixed on picking this up though since I have the 2013 version.

First time I watch a review where I agree with pretty much everything said. Also, I was quite disappointed with the UCS choice. For Episode VI a TIE Interceptor or a B Wing wouldve been more fitting. Hell even a Mon Calamari or a Death Star II in a 200€ price point wouldve turned me on. Just glad Im saving some money for the UCS Venator.

Nice Review! But, Hmmm, Let me think. I don't currently own a UCS X-Wing and with 7191 at $1500 to $2000 and 10240 at $350 to $600 neither of which capture the true X-Wing as much as the 2023 edition (IMHO) at $240. Yea, I'm going to go with 2023!!!👍

Is he serious? Mini figures are supposed to be exclusive to UCS sets that’s just one of the reasons why the UCS Gunship had such a backlash.

Yes, other reviews have pointed out that R2 isn’t exclusive as well

That R2 is not exclusive, and he is complaining about the scale wich is absolutely reasonable. They should have included a 4x4 dome head for R2 and then a regular minifig to go with Luke in the stand.

I think this looks great and just bought it after a week of consideration. When you see it next to the old ones, it’s so much cleaner and brings a greater shelf presence. I think the cons people keep mentioning are getting minor. Rampant money printing has created such inflation hikes that we are still getting used to an unfortunate “new normal” for retail prices.

Just my .02 cents. Everybody loves talking about price points, and in the same breath want improvements that can be costly in production. Case and point, all the new printed parts as opposed to stickers, which are a pain and look nowhere as good as the printed, new printed detail on the mini figures, specialty pieces like the new curved intake pieces and there are new reverse 4x8 panels to clean up the wings....surprise, these drive design, engineering and production costs. You can't ask for improvements and then say its not worth it since there was a price increase. You want to stay at the $200 price point, don't ask for things that drive price. I am fairly new to collecting UCS and of course I have already ordered this as I am not paying the hefty price of a retired UCS that is actually a bit inferior. Good review, but just a bit nit picky as far as mentioning price. Finally, like it or not, prices are going to increase with inflation, cost of raw materials, employee pay and benefits, and every other cost driver of doing business.

New molds and prints certainly drive costs higher, that doesn't excuse overcharging for products when LEGO's profits are the highest they've ever been even after they initially raised prices last year. Inflation and costs of production are one thing. Raising consumer prices unnecessarily is another. I say this as someone who already gives LEGO a ton of my money, so the decision is up to the consumer to decide which products are and aren't fairly priced for their budget.

With inflation happening everywhere ( not just Lego) I think $240 is not a bad price for this considering you are getting that exclusive Luke Skywalker and more pieces than the other 2 older X-wings. Also I think this new one is LEAPS and BOUNDS better than the first 2 for sure! It's bigger the nose of the ship is bigger and nicer and with a printed sticker on the canopy and the display plaque it is an easy buy for me. Anyone can find some fought with ANY Lego set if they look hard enough so the fact that this set may have some Flawes is totally fine.

I really like this set, it does have some problems but it is still the best x-wing yet. It has some great figs, and we finally got a printed plaque!

I already own the previous version of the x-wing (my first UCS model) and as much as I would like to get this one too, I will most likely be buying the UCS models I dont currently have (ie AT-AT walker), and with every other new UCS release being placed above this model in list order to buy.

The flimsy wings in the closed position and lack of a landing gear is enough to put me off this set… the quality standards have seriously dropped in lego star wars, which is a shame.

The lack of quality seems to me a set for 4+, but with a price for adults over 40 years of age.

Maybe the mark on the center of the plaque is the reason why they use stickers cause now everyone’s complaining about the mark

I have the original X-wing From the early 2000s and it’s blocky but it still looks better than this newer model especially the nose cone

Floppy wings and some poor part execution, not worth £200. And Luke surely can’t be classed as exclusive if all they did was add black boots from the last non-UCS X-Wing set.

Yes, I agree. For that price one could reasonably expect the wings to work a lot better. It's a hard no for me, and I love the X wing. It occupies an honorable place in Star Wars.

I’m not a fan. The wings suck. Having that gap and them sagging on a model that is $320 CAN is unacceptable! As well, while the engines are bigger and more accurate, the wings are too narrow (wingspan) when you compare with the source model. Check the book! Two nice Mnini-fogs but not worth $320!

I buy just about every Star Wars Lego set that comes out but I’m not excited for this set and won’t be buying it. Perhaps if it’s on sale sometime down the road but honestly don’t love it.

I think saying it’s not in proportion for mini figures to sit inside is an un-fair criticism- when to make it so big and detailed is a challenge . Look at the retired ucs star destroyer. And it’s more a display piece, than a toy.

To clarify, I wasn't criticizing the fact that Minifigs aren't in scale with UCS sets here. Only the fact that LEGO did so by using a Minifig scale R2 when a larger brick-built version would have been more accurate.

It is ironic that in most of the LEGO Xwings, the minifigure fits perfectly, and this UCS set, which is much larger, does not close the canopy piece. I guess that wasn't too much to ask for.

An X-wing with sad sagging s-foils, a cockpit shaped backwards, a bulky front fuselage instead of the shape-defining sleek one, and a floppy s-foils-mechanism that is sorely lacking thourough engineering to make it robust. I don't know what is wrong with people justifying spending hundreds of bucks on this. Eh - I'll keep on making real movie replika models. LEGO is a great toy concept, but it's really failing at creating movie replikas, especially if you have to pay such premium prices.

Nice! This set looks great and after watching this review (and SolidBrix + Brickfanaticks), I think I’ll pick it up. I don’t have one yet and it looks a bit improved compared to the previous version, which I was going to get if this didn’t look more improved.

I'm also torn about this one. I don't own a UCS X-WING and would really love to have one, but the design decisions and the slightly high price is turning me off. I agree with all your criticisms. I will wait for the $300 one ten years from now, hopefully they come up with some newer pieces that perfect this model.

03:33 it s a great figure, but the sides of the helmet are missing prints to match the actual helmet. Which is crazy because we know LEGO can print on the sides of these helmets because they’ve done it in another of the newly released sets, the snub fighter set. The pilot there has the same helmet only in yellow and it has print all over including the sides, unlike Luke’s here.

I like the new curved engine pieces, they could be used for futuristic bar seats in the future I guess
