Saw these guys last night in Arizona….they truly are the real deal! They play live exactly what you hear on their albums…which as you know is pretty hard to pull off.

This new one is so odd but sooo good. That is exactly what you should expect out of prog band, to play, explore and enjoy!

Ihsahn is married to Einar Solberg’s sister. And when Ihsahn started his solo career after Emperor, Leprous was his touring band. Ihsahn and Einar/Leprous has collaborated several times. Check out Celestial Violence by Ihsahn that features guest vocals by Einar.

I can't think of any other band in prog scene that is more overlooked and underrated than Leprous. They deliver banger album after banger album and the evolution of their sound is mesmerising. Love them so much 🖤

Thanks for turning me onto this band, Jim. I think you used The Price or something as intro music to one of your videos and I was hooked instantly.

Hey Jim. I’m just getting into this band - they are so good. I’ve got this cued up to release tomorrow sometime - I’ve it once (well three times now!) and got into it straight away. These are a seriously solid band! All the best Dave✅✅

This is the perfect mixture of Leprous that I wanted from Aphelion. Aphelion delivered, but in a different way. This is the leprous I love, and easily the best single! I'm super stoked for this album especially after hearing this!!🤘 Great reaction mate!!
@Fanafranky4 ай бұрын
I just had to look for every reaction I could find to this song because I know for a fact on my first listen I did the most intense facial expressions I had for years 😂 The first 2 minutes are weird as hell but when it hits oh boy, this is like the Coal/Congregation days all over again!

Best tune since Bonneville, imo. A masterclass in dynamics.
@sVieira1514 ай бұрын
The other two singles were, in my opinion, pretty decent but nothing to shout out about. This one? I love it. It's my favourite of the three by a mile. I love the dynamics and unsettling harmonic choices and it has everything I love in Leprous. I feel like it's a weird thing to say, but it feels like if Bilateral and Pitfalls had a baby. To me that's very exciting. Edit: yup, Ihsahn is Einar's brother in law. Leprous, back in the day, used to be part of Ihsahn and Emperor's (after other members left) live band

Einar Solberg's voice is unique, it's so impressive. I realized when I heard Cloak and bought Coal right away, I bought an older album soon after. When the follow up to Coal came out, I started to be unable to hear too much of Einar's singing ... so I turned away and never came back until today . I think this song has the perfect balance between soft and hard ... loud and not so loud ... so they'll get a second chance 😆🤘

Oh missed this one....not familiar with leprous ....start is muse radiohead porcupine tree...my favourite high pitch male vocal band is Wild Beasts - his voice is more Jeff Buckley like at start....oh very bombastic pop metal in middle...gone all Dream Theatrey.... Ok 2nd go... Its well composed but isn't blowing my synapses atm....then i realise ive heard Aphelion before...and it went over my head... Leprosy the band i like though... Lol🧐

I recently heard Leprous for the first time, maybe six months ago. Now I have all their albums, and they have become my favourite group - in a heartbeat. I suggest anyone wanting an album to introduce yourself, I would suggest 'The Congregation' - this is the album that made me stop everything and listen. They are truly awesome. You need to listen to the drummer, he is astounding, and the rest of the band are amazing musicians too, and the vocals are mind bogglingly good. You will get to a point that you have to go back to their music because there is so much happening that you did not hear before, you have to actively listen with headphones - just incredible. Not only that, but you will listen to this band in your head all day.

I have tried on a number of occasions to dig into this band because they are so highly regarded by people who's opinions I respect. I just can't find anything I enjoy there. This song probably hits closer to the mark than any others I've heard, but I'm still not sold. This will be going against the grain I'm sure, but I think it's his voice more than anything that grates on me. Ah well, nothing is truly one-size-fits-all. 😁
@Theodor-es1rh4 ай бұрын
Fair enough, took me some time to get into Einars vocals as well. Heard him first on Esa Holopainens 'Ray of Light' and was so confused :D. Maybe try to start with the earlier stuff (Biletteral, Coal, The Congregation), those are not that much vocals centered
@rudolfbecker43134 ай бұрын
It's one of those voices, which you either like or "hate" ... I started with 1 song I liked - Cloak - , bought the album, was good ... the next was already hard to listen to in its entirety ... but when Einar sang too much too high too strong ... I was out ... this one here has a good mix 🤘

Hi Jim, It started very nice. Then the heavy part with some screaming 🫨 but hooray it was very short. Overal, I more or less liked it. Don’t worry, that’s hopeful for me. I need to hear it at least another time. 😮 you must be telepathic. I already like this song a lot more. I do want to hear the whole record but, and there’s a big but, they mustn’t do more screaming.
@zinAab794 ай бұрын
They have very few seconds of screaming in their music, this song could be probably the only moment in the album
@venny12324 ай бұрын
I thought the song was OK, nothing particularly interesting or intricate in the guitars and keys. The singer is the stand out of this band.

Back to their original style which I really liked. The last few albums have been horrid. Good overall but still don't like his voice.
