I love how each album is a different sound, vibe and style. You'll see how through the albums they have been evolving and growing as musicians, always innovating their style

Man I love Bilateral! It's really creative and Forced Entry is a masterpiece! The Congregation is an another awesome album by them. Thorn on Bilateral features Ihsahn ( ex Emperor )

I’d say the album “I am Hollywood” by He is legend would be up your alley. Very poppy metalcore with some amazing guitar/bass playing. Still can’t believe they dropped that album in 2004, was so far ahead of its time.

Super unique band, I've been really into progressive metal for the last couple years and that lead me to Leprous...but it's hard to call them prog metal or prog rock or...whatever else you might think of. It's kind of a mixture of all kinds of things.

Love the craziness in some of their songs like Forced Entry. Like it doesn't follow set structure.

Agreed, the finale of Forced Entry is goddamn phenomenal with the distorted highs. That sound is SO intimidating.

it's normal that this kind of music doesnt reach to you at the first take, that is what happens with music constructed in such a unique way, Opeth is even harder for "new listeners", be cause you need to have the tools to process in a better way this kind of stuf, and when I say tools I mean like a ton of musical information to acquire a better appreciation.

Great reaction thank you. Next are the 3 best imo albums. When I first discovered Leprous I listened to those three (Coal, The Congregation and Malina) non stop for months. That's when their style evolves to maturity. Cant wait for your reactions! Cheers!

I higly recommend you to listen the album Origin by Odd land, it's some way similar to the atmosphere of this album, but I think it will be easier for you to appreciate :), by the way I really love your content, and love to watch your musical journey, and I am shure some day you will listen againg this album and you will realize what a master piece it is.

Yo, you should check out Intronaut's "Fluid Existential Inversions". They released it in 2020, and they're already finishing up a new record which is probably going to release sometime next year. It's full of groove, vibes, and has possibly the best drumming I've ever heard on a metal album. If you end up liking that album, their discography is quite a journey (personally, my favorite have been their 3 most recent albums).

Give Opeth a shot too! Not sure if you've heard their music before, since you seemed to not be sure who they were. Their earlier stuff is like progressive metal with lots of death metal influence thrown in, but that's too simple of a description tbh. Check out their album Blackwater Park sometime. Lots of melodic parts (not in a melodeath sense) with cleans and growls, acoustic guitars, distorted downtuned guitars, you name it.

I've never listened to Opeth before. After I finish either leprous or BTBAM, I will react to their discography.

@@RUNTY_OW Good shit dude, in for a treat. Once you get around to it, start out with either Blackwater Park or Ghost Reveries imo. As for Leprous, their next album on the list is one of their heaviest (closer track is probably their heaviest song). It does rely on repetition here and there, but the heaviness and atmosphere will make up for it.

@@RUNTY_OW They got a hell of a discog. I’d say they’re the best gateway band to get into progressive death metal and other similar genres. They also have albums like Damnation and their more recent output that’s more along the prog rock/metal with no growls. Lots of variety and should be a very interesting discog run if you end up doing it.
