One suggestion, extend the legs out on the bottom half of the ladder so you have less of a slope to go down. I use loading ramps to do the same thing. I'm old, single and stubborn, so I'm forever unloading things from my truck by myself. I always find a way to get the job done.

I use a hydraulic table cart from Harbor Freight. I've had it for several years and used it to unload engines, transmissions, rollaway toolboxes, etc. It looks like you have a paved driveway so it would roll smooth.
@GReviewz

That’s a great idea. What’s the max height on one of the table carts?

After thinking about this, I think I would have unloaded the bottom box first. Then I would unpack the bottom box as well as the top box while it is still in the truck. Then place the bottom box by the tailgate and lower the top box off the tailgate onto the bottom box. This could save you some lifting plus avoiding any scratches or dents to your new tool box.
@GReviewz
@GReviewz 25 күн бұрын
That sounds like a great idea. I just have a personal rule to not unbox anything until it is safely were it needs to go. I don’t like scratches/dents on my new stuff if something falls.

If you extend the bottom section of your ladder (make it longer) the drop off the tailgate is not as steep an angle & even easier. I do this with my Little Giant all the time.

Nice Idea 👍 I have a garden wagon, rated for 600 lb, sides come off and it becomes just a flat deck on wheels, I slide heavy items off truck onto it, the drop is about half way to ground, then wheel to garage. That ladder trick would be handy for sure.
@GReviewz
@GReviewz 24 күн бұрын
The wagon is nice. You may be able to do both. Use the ladder to unload onto wagon, then use wagon to movie item were you want it.

You can use your purse to hold down the end of the ladder in the bed so it doesn’t pop up. 😂🤣 Just bustin chops, this is a great idea.

Great idea , but I would have liked to see you get the ladder under the box in the truck. I'm sure it wasn't easy trying to wiggle the ladder under the boxes.
@GReviewz
@GReviewz 3 күн бұрын
I’ll be very honest with you. It was super easy. All I did was tilt the box up on its long edge and laid the ladder right under it.

Smart trick. Work smarter, not harder! For little things like you just unloaded your technique is fine, but for heavier stuff precautions should be taken. I've done this twice: to unload a 250lb pellet stove and an 80 gallon air compressor. For big items I suggest working from above, in the truck bed, so you are not under a rapidly descending heavy object. Also using a come-along or at least well tied ropes to ensure the object doesn't descend uncontrollably can be helpful for those things which are unmanageably large or significantly heavier than your body weight.

Cool hack! Throw a ratchet around the ladder and where the tow chains hook in for better stability. It is what we do for loading atvs and motorcycles with the ramps.

If I don’t have any aides I look for a higher spot to back up to even if it’s just backing up to a curb to remove at least that much height. Can often back up to a hill where the tailgate gets much closer to the ground. I like this idea for other scenarios tho.

@@GReviewz haha well it's just a junkyard motor with a couple of bolt-ons. Absolutely nothing special other than a standalone ECU to help it make a whopping 130whp (probably a bit less since it's been a couple of seasons since it was dyno'd). But since it only weighs around 2000lbs, it's still pretty darn quick and definitely nimble.

I have used a 2x 4 in the past to unload things out of a truck or my hatchback suv small one , it’s all about weight transfer , use your brain not your back and you don’t need any help. I also used a two wheeler to move things around on the ground, but what do know , I’m 66 years old, I’ve done this a few times , thanks for your video,😅

how did you get the box on the ladder and maybe get a dolly to put the box on to wheel into the garage. I like the idea may have to try it

His is a Gorilla. Several companies make them including Little Giant and Werner, ranging from 11’ to 26’ when fully extended. Home Depot and Lowe’s carry them as well as most hardware stores. They usually are on sale at HD for Black Friday and other times during the year

The hard part is loading the truck to begin with. You're not always getting help like at Lowe's.
@GReviewz
@GReviewz 27 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching. At Lowe’s I picked up these boxes with my three young kids. Always remember if something is too big or heavy to ask for help. Either from employees or just a random person in the parking lot. It’s never worth hurting your back. Like I said they used a pallet jack with a lift on it to load those in my truck.
@Sylvan_dB
@Sylvan_dB 25 күн бұрын
I find it helps to send my wife to pick up the stuff! 😂 She is 5'2" with gray hair, and often buys 50 lb bags of various things. Almost every time some random guy in the parking lot will see her pushing the cart and offer to help load them for her.

That sir is simply genius...however, with hindsight being 20/20 i would've unloaded the lower wheeled chest 1st then slid the upper chest onto it while it was still up on the truck that way you wouldn't have to lift the upper chest all the way up.

@GReviewz

Good question the boxes are not too heavy to just tilt them up on the long edge and slide the ladder under them.
@Sylvan_dB
@Sylvan_dB 25 күн бұрын
You can rock and tilt the item to get it up onto the ladder. You can see him doing this in the video as he moves the boxes on the ground. As a 150lb skinny high school kid I used to move 55 gallon drums of methanol like this, sometimes moving them on to or off of pallets. This does NOT work if the object is short, or very heavy on the bottom, but for most things if you can get leverage to tip it, you can move it.

All the people who say “Just man up” they are the ones that will have back problems when they get older. Ask name how I know…. Always try to avoid actually lifting something if you can. I do a similar move straight into my dolly. Then I roll it away.
@GReviewz
@GReviewz 24 күн бұрын
I’m pushing 40 and when I was younger I saw asking help to be weak. Now asking for help is a god send. That would have been perfect to have the ladder run onto a dolly and then I could have rolled it away..
