Would love to see this comparable with the metal hot button version and be able to disconnect the switch and then be able to charge the light without removing the tail cap and battery. Make that and I’ll buy literally 5 of em!

I like the innovative thinking, but my experience with USB type-C's durability has been spotty. What is your team doing to prevent damaged contacts and debris ingress on both the light (female) end and the cord (male end)? Will you be including a cleaning tool for the cable ends? Is this just for remote switching or does this allow 18650 batteries to be charged in the light? Will this be dual-fuel compatible?

Curious as to why? Was this requirement driven or a thought? Mlre interested in the back story if one then the product, but not shitting on it, simply not for my application. Any info that can be shared would be appreciated.

The idea is that it will create a better connection between the remote switch and the light by using a USB-C interface that should prevent the flickering that happens with the current Surefire plugs and high output lights. It also offers a smaller footprint over the Surefire DS00 since the cable attaches at the side instead of the back, and not only still offers the redundant constant on tailcap switch, but improves on it by giving you a bigger button for activation. I'm not generally a remote switch guy, but these could tempt me to switch over.

I love having all of my electronics USB-C. It is the best connector we have ever invented. It carries alot of power, 40 GBPS data, 8k video, high quality digital audio.... and it is very secure.

@@joshuanissen8803 none of the data transfer advantages of the USB-C are even remotely usable for a light switch. Also, best and secure connector? Are we talking about the same thin metal oval that has to be inserted to match thin plastic lip inside a hole? Are you joking?

Judging by how much of a hustle it is to disconnect the Unity Hot Button plug from my light's DS00 tailcap, I'd say there's not much more that could be done about the connection. DS00 already has momentary/constant on and the cable sticking from the rear is less of a snag hazard than if it was sticking from the side IMO. Unless you could rotate the entire tailcap like the CD one. Also, the flickering is more UE tailcap thing. On the other hand, all the USB-C connectors I've ever used eventually became loose as they're just a thin piece of metal. I'd really like to hear from Unity themselves the answer to @chaoticcaninejb's question.
