I watched this episode to pay a tribute to the memory of Ken Osmond Rest in Peace. 1943-2020. And now I have 96 more Beaver episodes altogether to go before I complete the whole entire Beaver Franchise.
I thought he was alive when he was doing this show
@25FADIII3 жыл бұрын
Yes, Ken Osmond was alive while doing New Leave it to Beaver. Osmond died last year, 31 years after the cancellation of the New Leave it to Beaver. I was paying a tribute to Ken Osmond last year, and since then I've seen all 235 original 1957-63 Beaver episodes, all about 101 1983-89 New Beaver episodes, and the 1997 film coinciding with the show's 40th Anniversary with Christopher McDonald and Janine Turner as Ward and June Cleaver respectively. On the 1997 film, Osmond, Barbara, Billingsley, and Frank Bank make cameos.

I'm slowly making my way through the NLITB episodes and I have to say that of the ones that I've seen so far, this one comes closest to capturing the spirit of the original series. A very touching episode with some light humor mixed in- the bit about the death and funeral of Oliver's pet gopher was funny (I could see Jerry Mather's giving the same perspective some 30 years earlier if he had to come to grips with the death of an older relative). One criticism is that Eddie Haskell was way over the top in obnoxiousness in this episode given the situation, especially at the funeral- to the point of not being believable. I wished they would have toned him down a bit for this episode. Kaleena Kiff really shined in this episode as did Tony Dow.

I-m surprised that Beaver didn't speak at the service as aunt Martha was his godmother and he was much closer to her than Wally was...

at 9:25 , I love how Eddie wants to extend his condolences on the passing of Dear Auntie M. Then Mary Ellen says.."It was Aunt MARTHA! Then Eddie says.."Eh Big Deal. What's it matter now? Hey you got any Beer in the fridge?" LOLOLOL. That was perfect Eddie Haskell behavior. So funny!!! RIP Ken Osmond. You will be missed.

Somehow I can't picture Aunt Martha making catty remarks about Beaver and Wally's wives. She'd have probably thought it, but she'd have considered saying it to be beneath her. The Itsy Bitsy Spider was a little hard to swallow, too. She was always exceedingly formal.

Wasn't aunt martha an old lady even back in the late 50s? June would've been in her 70s even here.
@shettrick3 жыл бұрын
June and ward were roughly the same age as the actors who played them in the original show from 1957-63 - June about 42-48, and Aunt Martha coulda been in her late 50s/early 60s. Still/New Leave it to Beaver ran from 1983-89, so June woulda been about 62-68-ish. So, Aunt Martha coulda been late 70s/early 80s. Close enough to be believable for me,

Assuming that June Cleaver is intended to be same age as the actress that portrayed her, Barbara Billingsley was born in late 1915. One would assume that her aunt that raised her would be roughly 25 years older than her, which would have her being born in the early to mid 1890s. That would put Aunt Martha in her 90s for this episode, which is exactly what they mentioned.
@walterschivo91234 жыл бұрын
What would the age be for Kelly? 7 years ago would make her...5, and then she's around 12 in the 57th episode? Then the actress was like 14 when the show ended? I know in the last season she was hitting her teen years.
