Guyker hardware is fine quality, and I've used them several times. I respectfully disagree that the vintage style tuners are hard to string. I find that they are only slightly slower to string than locking tuners. Just clip the string two pegs higher than the intended tuning machine, shove it in the hold, bend it over, and spin the machine with your handy dandy Ernie Ball powered string winder. With modern locking machines, you have to thread the hole and that slows even an experienced tech down just a bit.

FIrst vid where split tops got bad press......everyone loves these...easy to restring...especially after they've already been installed. LOVE spit tops....simple...as efficient as locking (which few guitars ever need). Quality ones are VERY reliable....the ones that come on guitars of Asian persuasion (Squier) are often spotty and need to be replaced.

@lazvt8469 Sorry if I gave them bad press. I didn't mean it to come across that way. I think they're fine, but I prefer solid posts. And I always have trouble with those last two little strings using split tops 😄 It's possible these OG fenders are low quality squier level. They're from 2011. They tended to slip a lot. Like, rolling back on themselves. Anyway, thanks for watching 🤘

@@promognome Harley Benton's last two post are HORRIBLE....the hole is so shallow that I have to drill them deeper to truly make them work as intended. My Squier split tops are ....mostly crap for sure...but keep in mind that there are 70 year old vintage guitars, beat to within an inch of their lives, with working posts. 🙂

I have used the Safe-T-Post tuners on my Fenders for over 40 years. I have yet to find anything better....🤷♂️

I just returned a black, and gold, set of Guyker GK07SP machine heads, last week. They were the worst tuners I've ever used. (Got my first guitar, in 1978.) Some were tight turning. Some were quite loose. Until they got to a certain point. Then they bound up. Not worth $10, let alone $45. Got a set of D'Addario black, and gold, auto-trim machine heads. They cost more, but the quality is a night & day difference. I won't dog Guyker too much. I really like the Guyker GM005 roller bridge, I got, in the same order as the terrible machine heads. It's quite smooth, and fits well. No movement. One wrap of Teflon tape, on each post's threads, (I made sure the ground was making contact.), and they are quite snug.

I put a Guyker trems (Deusenberg copies) on many guitars, including a Firefly tele that came with a stop tail piece and tuneomatic style bridge … they work great

The 2 'nubs' indicate these new tuners are modern Fender design. Stew-Mac actually carries a jig for locating and drilling the two holes.

Been using a bunch of their products lately just ordered their LP replacement bridge set and it has set screws to lock them in place and good weight definitely an upgrade for the epiphone I am working on

I must have gotten a really bad set of Guyker locking tuners back in 2020... The B and high E tuners simply refused to lock the strings ☹️☹️ and I've been repairing guitars professionally since 2004...I usually use other brands but I thought I'd give the Guykers a shot because they were more affordable... The chrome plating was absolutely flawless though...And each tuner turned smoothly... After that I didn't want to have anything to do with that brand anymore but maybe I should give it another shot...

So, I'm wondering if they stay in tune better due to less wraps on the peg on a floyd rose?.. Could this be better than a locking nut?.. I use the whammer quite a bit, and have mixed results when either using, or not using a nut lock. Just curious.
@promognome3 ай бұрын
@exibuchay1695 The problem we had with the split top tuners was major slippage. Not from the posts necessarily, but the gears inside. The lockers for this one will keep it stable. I don't think you would need locking tuners if your nut is locked. Players I've done work for that extensively use the whammy (that don't have locking nuts) swear by the locking tuners. I think the jury is still out on whether fewer string wraps give a different tone. Personally, for me, the more wraps, the better! I did this one this way to show how locking tuners were designed to be strung. But on this ones next string change, I'm going for a few wraps. This guy plays til his fingers bleed, so it should be back for new strings next month 😄 Thanks for watching 🤘

I've bought 2 sets of these over the past 2 years and given them both away. High e string never stays in tune, due to slippage and I end up having to just wrap it like a non-locking tuner.

Wow; not my experience at all-- I've always found split tuners to be ultra-reliable and I can string them as fast as a locking tuner as long as I got a pair of wire cutters on me... which I obviously carry everywhere...

Exactly!!

My experience with cheap locking tuners is that the high e slips and need to be installed the old fashion way. Maybe these are fine but I don't feel like throwing money out of the window.

Wanna sell your old tuners. I’m recently not homeless and I’ve been donated a fender Strat copy and it won’t stay in tune. Soon I’ll get an amplifier and be rocking Cheers. Joseph

I agree with schreds8882. The tuners that were on there are way better than locking tuners. Do you all know that locking tuners do nothing for tuning stability, only makes string changes quicker on stage. Nothing more. Also you are not getting proper down force in the nut slots with these tuners as the posts are way too long for locking tuners. More winds are needed to get the strings to seat in the nut slots with more pressure so it's not doing this guitar any justice at all.
