New to your channel. I have never seen or even heard about the process of potato farming. Wow ! That doesn’t begin to describe what I am seeing. Thank you for the videos and the explanation behind what you do.

A potato pit has its own smell even after the potato 🥔 is gone. It's a moist musky smell. You can tell if the potato are good or not by the smell. Unforgettable smell.

Nothing has sold more Spudnik planters than the Lockwood air cup and pick planters. Never going back. Spudnik will never have an Aaron Savage though.

During planting these cups create gap between potatoe seed to seed or miss to suck the potatoes. Sometimes it happens or not?

When it gets too warm they are harder to keep. We have some of them with refrigeration though and have kept until September just before start of harvest.

Love your channel. Was wondering,with all of the money yous spend on equipment,why dont you put up a cheap pole barn to protect them? I'm old school I guess.

We are getting some quotes right now, yes we hate seeing things sit outside as well. Normally we have empty cellars most of the winter and year but not this year.

Not really sure why the planter equipment company mounted the tires so the tread pushes debris into the middle of the tire when pulled forward, but hey, they do what they do.
@farmcentralohio

It's for better flotation.
@RockyMountainFarmer

I’m sure they have their reasons
@farmcentralohio
@farmcentralohio 6 ай бұрын
For the most part any non driven tires are mounted "backwords" so that they float more than push the mud out . Grain carts are the most common to see that way but anything pulled and has that type of tread are usually mounted that way@@RockyMountainFarmer
@robertr3470
@robertr3470 6 ай бұрын
@@farmcentralohio Flotation is determined by the dimensions/footprint of the tire/pressure, and tread coverage, not by the direction of the same tread rotating the opposite direction. The flotation would be the same rolling the opposite way.

I’ve been noticing a lot more perforated cement floor cellars going in here in the minicassia area and was just curious what the cost difference was between these and the conventional dirt floor with air tubes I’m thinking it’s a pretty penny any thoughts?

you probably said before, but what temps do you have to keep your storages for flakes? And do you have to warm them up in weeks before they get shipped out?
@RockyMountainFarmer
@RockyMountainFarmer 6 ай бұрын
We keep our between 40 and 45. And they just take them directly from there to the plant. No need to warm them up.

Yeah it’s the same. Keeping them colder does stop sprouting but can change your sugars.
