Ok, let's have an update. So originally I was told that this Radiant Face & Body was completely new. After many comments (thank you so much by the way) I've checked the ingredients of the original Face & Body and can confirm that this is IDENTICAL. This hasn't been reformulated, it's just been repackaged and renamed. So let's talk about the foundation. I wouldn't market this as a foundation. In my mind, this is a skin tint, or tinted moisturiser. I loved it on first application, and to be honest if I hadn't expected it to be long wearing and waterproof, I think I'd have loved it more. I've also been told that it's recommended to apply this with fingers (YUK), and although I tried this yesterday and had the same result, after a few tips from you all (thanks again) I'll persevere and let you know how I get on in the May Faves & Fails. well, on the French Mac site at least, the ingredients do look identical at first sight, but after talc their ordering (hence the relative amounts) changes a bit. I am not sure if this can make such a huge difference in the product, but for me the original and this one are definitely NOT performing the same (I am not judging based on the video, I tried them both myself). the new one has:....Talc, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Fusanus Spicatus Wood Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Triethanolamine, Polysorbate 20, Xanthan Gum, Cetyl Alcohol, Farnesol, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin and the original has: ...Talc, Tocopherol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange), Fusanus Spicatus Wood Oil, Xanthan Gum, Triethanolamine, Polysorbate 20, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Cetyl Alcohol, Disodium Edta, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin

It's so worth it . You can push it to almost medium with 2 layers I think that's why it's 50 ml not 30 ml . It's not going to stay 10 hours but I wear it all day I think the new shades and néw packaging is to compete a long time holy grail product with the Glossier skin,Fenty dewy etc type products on the market

Mac says on its YT videos accompanying the release that it's the same as the old FB with a new name. They added to the shade range (at least the zero shades). I'm a decades long FB user -- I always go back to this. It's buildable. Fingers do work best, but you can dot it on your face, let it rest a few seconds, and swirl, swirl, swirl to blend with a brush (one that buffs, not a flat kabuki). It likes to be patted into your face like you might an essence or serum. It may remain feeling a smidge tacky. I'm terribly dry, older than you are. I must try this re-packaged release -- need a new shade! Shelbey Wilson has videos on how to apply this -- highly commend that to you. Sponges are no good with this. For many, many reasons, I don't care for the Dior Backstage- the alcohol, the fragrance.

@@jarmillex3198 I have seen side by side comparisons and they are marketing it as more of a name/packaging update with a few more shades. Those who did a side by side noticed the new one might be more glowy and others thought that when they had the exact same shade in both the old and new - thought the new was a tad darker. I ordered one of the new shades in W1 online. Fingers crossed 🤞 I picked the correct shade.

the warmth of your hands makes it adhere to your skin perfectly and you can feel it adhere. After that's it's like one with your skin. Some weird science to this. I don't know how describe it. I use this on brides and have worn it in 100° weather for 12 hours and it was still flawless... it's all about application for me. But not everyone's skin and preferences are the same. To get better coverage I use the hands to apply the foundation. Rub the foundation between the fingers until it start to get tackie and then press it on the skin. I have tried so many different foundation but I always go back to Mac Face and body. As I understand it’s the same formula just new packaging and now also a a peachy colour tone. It wears off during the day but in a sort of natural way🙂 I like it for my dry and 55 yesrs old skin.

The original one you would have to keep buffing and it gets thicker and the colour more opaque so this probably isn’t the type of foundation to apply with a sponge, it’s such a good foundation once you get the knack of it. It’s all about the buffing, it kind of activates it

I love this foundation. I wore it on my wedding day as it photographs so well. There is definitely a knack to getting the best out of this. Pour some out in to the palm of your hand and then rub your hands together until you feel it thicken. That's when the magic happens. Or apply a blob of it straight on to you face and rub it round in a circular motion until you feel it thicken. Its then ready to set and it will look good all day 😀

Lucy Wright, you and I would do this and both of us love Mac face and body but there are so many people who just don't seem to want to get their fingers "dirty" by using them to apply makeup. There is an amazing number of people that are funny that way. Hence the huge expense of the tools:: the sponges, the brushes, and so forth

Although I have a few foundations on rotation, I always go back to the original mac face and body. It has its own personality. I'd love to see what dior does in comparison as I'd like a little more coverage. I use my fingers to apply and feel the texture change as I apply. I use C1 and have also bought N1. Both seem ok.

I bought this one months ago for something quick on the go and I love the way it looks. I use my fingers to apply it and I am okay with how long it lasts. But there is just something about it that I adore and can't stop using. It can give a no make up make up look, maybe thats why.

I have been wearing the original Face and Body for years.I was told this was repackaged , not reformulated but I haven't tried it. Face and Body should be put on with your fingers only no brushes or sponges , It has a fill form technology that thickens and adheres to your skin. Alternatively, you can warm it on your fingers and pat it into your skin. That is the way to also add additional layer in areas necessary. Please refer to old Wayne Goss and Shelbey Wilson videos explaining technique. No powdering , primers etc. Try this technique and you may like it much better.

I hope this is not a replacement, in France both are available. I have been using both the original and tried out this one and they are definitely different. I love the original, this one is... ok at best. If the ingredients are identical, maybe the relative amounts differ? Also, beware, the shades are slightly different, too.

On the website, it says something like, “the same product you love, in all new packaging, (and with some added shades)”. I confirmed this at my local store. The SA steered you wrong I’m afraid. It’s not reformulated. Which is too bad, because I love it - but it does not like my skin. Causes a breakout every time I try it. ☹️

@@PamperedWolf yes the ingredients are identical. Only in one place are two ingredients switched around but otherwise they are even in the same order. I believe the only real new thing is they have added some shades with a nice new undertone to accommodate a lot more people and also paler shades and a few darker ones in one of the ranges that didn't have such dark ones before. I'm quite glad they pushed this as they did so that more people would try it because I think it's really excellent and people such as myself who could benefit from it should be made aware of it, rather than having the highly pigmented formulas pushed at us all the time which only accentuate and highlight texture, or fine lines..

Thanks for this review. This is iconic and an amazing product. It’s nothing like Dior’s Face and Body! I’ve been using it for about 15 years and I’m never without it in my collection. It’s best applied with the fingers because of its texture. I can build it up to high medium coverage on my normal/dry mature skin. If you leave it to dry for a couple of minutes between coats, it will build up to almost full , but natural looking, coverage. It NEVER sticks to any dry patches. Try it on your legs in the summer. There’s nothing like it on the market and I hope that Mac never discontinues it.

I didn't think it looked that bad even after 11 hours, but I know you can see things I can't. Not a bad one for the coverage if you just wear it for less than 8 hours like I would, I would never wear a foundation all day, just for what I put it on for then cleansed off when I got home. I have nevercworn foundation for work so see no problems with it . As always stay safe xx 😘❤

Hi my beautiful Pampered wolf. i actually love this foundation, initially i had a love hate however ive learnt the following technique to inc the coverage.. apply a little bit with your fingers on ur face and let it sit for 30 sec, it thickens on contact with the heat of ur skin, then massage and cover where you need to. this increases coverage and you can manipulate it, on the second layer you can go straight in as normal as the second layer has something to adhere to.. xxx

The face and body foundation has been my holy grail for 5 years and I was gutted when I saw they were reformulating because the film technology makes it stay. After reading your comment, I’m relieved that the ingredients are identical but am sad that I think they have gotten rid of the two different sizes. I love applying it with my fingers because it does get thicker and feels like it sets but I tend to put on a second layer or run over with a sponge to make sure it is all blended. For nights out, I mix a little face and body with nars sheer glow and it’s beautiful.

@@PamperedWolf Try rubbing it between hands/fingers until it thickens (more tacky) and then apply to your face. Let it set for a minute or two and then apply more layers to build it up.

I LOVE the original mac face and body, I hope that this one is not replacing it as some have claimed (I live in France and there, both the original and this one are available on their website; from the description there it doesn't seem as if this is a replacement of the original.). I also prefer it to the Dior F&B, as that one has alcohol in it, the Mac F&B original does not (though I know that in theory, alcohol should evaporate quickly, but still...). Mac F&B is best applied with fingers (even though I know you hate it, but give it a try) and you can build it up to, say, a medium, if you want to, though I'd say by default it's rather a light coverage. To me, it feels very similar to Chanel Les Beiges L'Eau de Teint (which I love too), except it has a bit more coverage and doesn't have that strange texture which Chanel has at first, with the tint bubbles and all. To be honest, I was quite disappointed by this (I bought it too, as I was curious) and I also do not get the point of this (like I said, unless it's replacing the original, which I hope it is not) - the original has a similar, even more beautiful finish, that is very skin-like, with a slight, natural radiance to it (though it's not too glowy) and it's very long-lasting. Given that this has a similar finish (which I personally like less than the original, straight after application, I think it's somehow more "obvious") and doesn't last too well, I have no idea what the point of it should be. Bottomline: if you like how this looks but are otherwise disappointed by it, check out the mac face and body original. If it was only possible to compare the three of them (the new mac F&B, the original mac F&B and the Dior one :) ), sadly we only have two halves of our faces. :) note: if you do decide to try the original, beware that the shades there are a bit different, I have C2 in this new radiant F&B and it looks like it's exactly in between the C1 and C2 of the original (which I have both).

Wow Gemma, I'm miffed since I really wanted you to like this. I think back when this first came out many years ago, that 8 hours truly WAS a long time for a foundation to hold, & probably ppl were glad that it held for an average 8 hour work day... The original face and body is literally my favorite foundation ever. I'm not sure I care to bother with the radiant one. The original has everything I love, already in it. Sheer all the way to high-medium coverage, and radiant on my skin. And applies BEST with fingertips. 10/10 in my mind. And MAC face and body is TOTALLY different than Dior Backstage. I love both, but MAC has the edge.....

I'm the same. Everything goes orange on me. Before the pandemic I had an artist at a MAC store shade match me and put Face & Body on my skin. N2. Was perfect goig on, the best match I have ever had. Within a couple of hours I looked like an Oompa Loompa. I managed to get hold of a sample of N1 which although lighter going on didn't seem to go orange on me. But like you once we can try makeup again I really want to try N1 again and see if the colour works. Also recheck the formula. I have really fussy skin that goes quite oily when I wear makeup, but at the same time soaks up foundation and looks really dry and crusty with a layer of oil on top (delightful I know). So never found a liquid foundation that doesn't look terrible, Face & Body so far has been the best if I can confirm the right shade I am slightly more hopeful of being able to wear a liquid foundation.

Finger application seems to be the best for me, as far as regulating the amount goes. Buildable, yes! I think this is a really lovely summer foundation.

And it does last quite a bit longer so you can trade the radiance for the matte appearance however mixing a little Dior into Mac face and body would be interesting, if it didn't destroy the Luminosity of MAC FAB.. Oh, I didn't knew MAC released a new face and body 🧐. I checked the German website and compared the new and old one = the ingredients are the same 😳. The new one is described as a radiant sheer foundation, the "old" one as a satin finish foundation. I loooove the original one and mostly use it in the summer months. Perfect for warm/hot days ☀️👙🏖. @@Donna-cc1kt Ill be honest, I wouldn't think you'd get 8 hours out of this product. At the end of the video Gemma talks about wear throughout the day & I agree with her. It's not very long lasting. I says it's waterproof & I went out in the rain today. It is waterproof, but it's not in any way transfer proof. My mask was full of makeup by the end of my time around the shops. I only really wear makeup for shopping, but if I had to work in an office all day I'm not sure this would do it for me xx

The name changed, the formula is the same according to MAC Canada. It’s not long wearing regardless of how you prep your skin. It just doesn’t hold up for an entire day, but it does look nice when first applied.

xD it happened to me the same but opposite, with the shade: I went for C1, they put me N1 and is perfection. And, for years!, my F&B foundation was the only one which wasn’t diminishing luminosity to my skin (those terrible matt full coverage years 😩), and I found it quite sheer... Yay! I was hoping you would do this one. So from my research mac have just repackaged the original (no formula change). But the have increased there shade range. I have seen that using fingers make the foundation thicker /more coverage. Not sure how that works but apparently it does. (sali huges igtv video). Also tip from the other video is if your in the original shades of face and body that do it in 120ml bottles which are currently on 20% off so makes it ml For ml as cheap as durgstore.

I've seen this over the years but never felt the urge to buy it. It's not for me. This vid has made my mind up for me. Eight hours isn't nearly enough for a foundation to wear away (and not in an acceptable way either) imo. When you 1st applied it your skin looked beautiful, but 8 hours is a bit rubbish. I suppose if I was having a shortened day (don't know when that would be 🥴) then, perhaps, this would be ok .... no, forget that, I'm not buying it. The original MAC face and body is my favorite. I’ve seen people show a difference between the original and the reformulation. GeekOutofWater said the original was more buildable. She didn’t like the new one as much.

I find Dior Face & Body very drying on my mature skin and threw it away as it was making my skin looking older. It also has a matte finish that I don’t like and a very high alcohol content. It’s nothing like Mac F&B.

I found the same but I have combination skin, I would say it’s better for very oily skin types. Also it has a really strong fragrance which was enough to put me off :(

I’ve had the same problem with this foundation. It starts out gorgeous but just doesn’t wear well. I have a busy life and need more than 8 hour wear. Thanks for review. Maybe you will figure out how to make it last longer. Would love to hear it if you do :)

Cheryl Clark add a few drops of Estee Lauder double wear stay-in-place makeup to it and it will last longer ---that makeup is a good mixer for extending the wear of other foundations...I think Dior Backstage might function in the same way if the two were mixed!!☺

Check out her prior videos. She really covers this and updates it. I struggled with an SPF accepting foundation, any foundation. Finally found EltaMD spf 40 and Spf 46 for acne issues. As for the other skin care products, everything The Ordinary makes has done beautifully under makeup. Aways ! My error in the beginning was not allowing skin care to dry before cosmetic applications. It’s the difference between success and dismal failure. Be well.

This was my Wedding Foundation 😍 and unfortunately it applies best with fingers - whether you like it or not. 😅 And I find it confusing that C in MAC is warm and W is cool.

Can you compare it with mac studio radiance sérum or covergirl essenc? They have a dupe. Bceause i dont like that theu have farnesol and orange oil in it...bad ingredients !!

I just got the new N0 shade and it’s a match. I’m fair neutral and the f&b N1 was too dark. Also, it’s much better applied with your fingers.

Thank you for the video. I went to the MAC counter today and I was told this foundation was the same as the original MAC Face and Body, with new packaging and an extended shade range. That being said, I having been wearing C1 for years and the new C1 is lighter. It also feels that there is a difference in the way the new product sits on my skin. Does anyone know definitively if there will be two versions of MAC Face and Body or if the repackaged version is the only version that will now exist?

This is the same foundation with much greater shade range. For best results, it must be applied with fingers and massaged in. It builds beautifully to high medium coverage (almost full) on my mature normal/dry skin.

Shannon the company recommends using the fingers and the artist recommend that but you can use a sponge or brush and the foundation will still look lovely so don't worry about that and just put it on the way you want to do it!! 🤗

This isn’t a reformulation, they have renamed and added more shades. Rub it between your fingers and the texture will thicken
