Schools like UVT, St Law, Clarkson, Canisius,Niagara will suddenly become powerhouses. They very close to Montreal, GTA. Lots of CHLers may prefer stay closer to home. Actually stated this in previous vid. I’m the first to get this out.

Hey Braden that is nice little apt you have there. I like the layout.

In college, you practice more than you play which is good. At that age you want to build yourself up, not break it down with a harsh schedule. So many of highly touted draft picks did not take advantage of this, and left too soon. Look at Will Smith, Trevor Zegras.

Good point.

Explains a lot about Bowling Green, I was wondering how they were getting so many guys from the WHL.

Were you allowed to play Div III after playing major juniors before? One of my former teammates played 2 years in the O and then played Div III. Did the previous rule only apply to Div I?
@ahadvising821 сағат бұрын
No, that should not have been allowed unless he found a loophole.

I think the BCHL, USHL, and NAHL will still commit a lot of players to D1 since there are more Spots for D1 than there is CHL players, so there will still be space for those non CHL players to play. But any Jr A leagues lower will have little to none.

I agree with this, most tier 2 programs will become solid D3 feeders.

The OHL WHL and the QMJHL to a lesser extent are the most scouted leagues in hockey for the NHL draft The really elite 16 -17 year old can play major junior and if if not drafted at 18 can go to US College till he is 21-22 More development time More Games in major Junior, lot of Travel, more physical game (I e ) fighting allowed in Major Junior All the things NHL teams consider So better college Teams BC BU NE Providence and more Denver Minn Mich will be powerhouses if they are not already They are almost AHL teams already also NHL does not have the problem of where to put a CHL draft choice for better development other than AHL the expenses of development will be less. Concentration Of talent Remember the old OHA Toronto Marlboroughs Junior Canadiens of the 60's absolute powerhouses

Braeden (sp?) Get a cheap microphone. Even for when you are travelling. Also, some of the video editors can normalize the sound. Will take you over the top ;-).

USports can now recruit kids from American Colleges too (who not drafted, and used up eligibility). I dont think CAN has this eligibility limit. Or go into NAHL/NCDC. A lot of those kids dont get any love.

Former U Sports player here (early 2010s). U Sports gives you 5 years of eligibility. At the time when I played (I'm pretty sure it's still the same), the years you played in the NCAA were taken off your eligibility in Canada. If you played all 4 years in the NCAA you were ineligible to play a final 5th year in Canada. We always had 1 or 2 guys on my team transfer from the NCAA who played 3 or less years in the US to finish their remaining years (5 in total NCAA + U Sports) in Canada. They usually lost some of their scholarship because of poor play or didn't like their situation/coach/team.

I really hope that USports, steps it up. There is no reason that they can't be more competitive or as good or better than D3. Maybe they fill that missing D2 gap?

Interesting, thanks for sharing.
@ahadvising821 сағат бұрын
Good question, maybe. However, I think it will be pretty competitive.

@cglasford1 U Sports is just as good as a lower tier Div I school (like a St. Thomas in Minnesota or Robert Morris... schools that are rarely ranked and have few, if any, NHL alumni). In fact some U Sports teams actually have NHL alumni! To put things in perspective, an Allstar roster from only 3 U Sports teams (U of Toronto, York, and TMU) beat the Canadian World Junior team in 2 tune up games for the world juniors.. and the world junior team is very competitive with the best players in the NCAA (ie. Team USA). Edit. The Canadian World Junior team always has tune up games against a "U Sports All Star" team.. with players from the nearby Canadian Universities (2 or 3 schools) where the world junior camp is being held

I don't think so. Participation number in Canada have been declining and they are growing in the US. There might be some turbulence over the next 5-10 years but US hockey is not going anywhere.

Only time will tell, will be interesting to see how this all unfolds.
