Actually I hate characters like Forget Me Not. It's a way to insert a brand new character into existing lore only to reveal that he's been there for years and nobody remembers him. The only problem with this is the lack of continuity. If they had foreshadowed him years ago and had some weird deux ex machina events (who pulled the switch? And who called the Avengers?) then this would be an awesome reveal. But instead it's a joke character (like that graphic on the WORST X-Men ever) Morrison did this right with "Ghost Girl", a new X-Men student with the power of perpetual invisibility. Everyone in the comic completely forgot she was there until she hopped into action. Or was it Brain girl? I forget. Anyway, on a team of omega level telepaths, the idea that someone could be recruited and then forgotten over and over again is ridiculous, which is why it's a joke character. It's obvious it's a psychic power, Prof X or whoever was in charge when he joined could suppress his powers until he can control them. DC tried the same kind of character for The Legion of Superheroes only he turned out to be a villain. Quit retconning my lore by inserting your stupid characters in it. That goes double for whoever decided to create Vulcan, the third Summers brother (Cyclops' and Havok's MIA brother that Xavier mind-wiped the world into forgetting) I get why they did it, they wanted to create a new character with ties to Cyclops but that family is well established (with X-Men, X-Factor, etc) with years of lore to back it up. So they decided to make it that everyone forgot about him for some reason. Who has the power to do that? Why, Charles Xavier himself. This was on the heels of the Ultimate X-Men comics where Xavier was more manipulative and doing things in secret all the time. The very idea that the guy helping mutants to control their powers would abuse his own on such a major label is ridiculous, but that's what they did. In summary, writers don't want to introduce brand new characters because there is a greater than average chance the fans won't like them. Blame it on Nostalgia or the fact that established characters are more fleshed out, but it's true. Very few new characters become classic characters. But using a writer's trick to insert them into the lore without putting in the time is despicable.

Eh. Longer videos and I get Adam talking about comics, I'll take it. It may not be innovative but it delivers long enough videos to hear about comics while I study and whatever it is about Adams speech that is maybe an impediment so slight I can't detect it but it is somehow hypnotic and wonderful.
