I REALLY REALLY HOPE they come out with math all the way through high school just like their language arts. I'll use them for my children's rest of school life! 🥰🥰

The videos were a game changer last year when we used the level 4. I planned to just teach my daughter and not use a screen for video lessons, but with two other kids to focus on too, I "broke down" and started the video lessons about two months into the school year. My daughter had been having a hard time understanding my explanation of the lessons too. She absolutely loved the video lesson and became more of a self-starter with school and learned more from the instructor than just math (ei. How many gallons of milk an average cow produces; learned about marathons; what size is the tiniest book in the world, etc.) Highly recommend it.

I'm so happy to see they are keeping the colorful books for older kids! We had that happen with Abeka. My son was visibly disappointed to see his math book one year after using crazy colorful books in the younger years. I felt so bad! Anyway, we thankfully no longer use Abeka. I'm really happy TGTB is keeping with the color theme for older kids!

I've been planning on using G&B math 7 this year for my son, and I'm soo disappointed it's not out yet. I'm curious what you would use instead if you were in this predicament. I've gotten lots of different recommendations, but they're all from people not as familiar with G&B math. Thanks!

I have 3 kids. My oldest is using math 6. We are using TGATB for all our subjects. We do not have much for electronics for the kids schooling as of now but I feel like we need to get something with the LA adding in videos too. What have you found to work well for electronics and sharing ect..kids ages are 12, 9, 7. Thanks for sharing all your videos and homeschooling knowledge. I have been watching you content for years and found TGATB through you. It was exactly what I had been praying for! Thanks for all you do!

My daughter will be going into 8th grade next year. She's doing TGTB Math 5 this year in 7th grade. She doesn't like math, but she's actually pretty good at it. When we started homeschooling I had her take the placement test and chose to start a level lower than she could have done to help boost her confidence. I've heard great things about Denison math too as well as Shormann, although I think Shormann may be too advanced for her. I'm torn between TGTB Math 6 or Denison Pre-algebra for 8th grade. Any thoughts or advice from anyone? Maybe Math 6 and Pre-algebra are the same? Thanks!!

Thank you for adding your comment about had it been around, you would have started off with TGATB Simply Math! I am a future homeschooling momma and have wondered about this! I was waiting for a Q&A on your IG to ask this question!

Thank you for this! I wish I would’ve started my boys out with this curriculum! Both struggle with math and this year I’m making the switch and after looking at the book I am so excited for them to get to do this. I think they will get so much more out of this than with the online program they were doing.

Thank you for the review of Math 6! One clarifying question ~ you mentioned that after Math 6 you would have your daughter do a Pre-Algebra course, then later it sounded like you were saying Math 6 covered the topics in Pre-Algebra and a child could move from Math 6 into Algebra 1. Am I understanding correctly what you said? Thanks for your help!
@GraceandGrit2 жыл бұрын
So without using it and just thumbing through. I think this course is the last step prior to entering a specific pre algebra course. I may change my mind after using it!

@@GraceandGrit do you still think pre algebra would be the next course to take after level 6? Thank you!

Did you use teaching textbooks as well? I know you mentioned a gap in your children's math. So, you went to another online course. So overwhelmed....due to the options and opinions.

My twin boys are 13 and wanted to do double lessons of math 6 before we end our year (we do Jan-Dec), although they already started moving into grade 7, just because they love it so much. They say the video lessons make the math easier and the colorful books make it more fun. They enjoy repeating concepts in the spiral approach. The call it "pudding-math". 😂

So you think after math 6 a good place to go would be pre algebra? Thats the part I've been confused on with TGTB math is where to go after math 6. I know they now have plans for levels 7 and 8 but like you I don't want to be teaching algebra so at that point we'll like move onto shormann or something else.

What math do you recommend for a kid that doesn’t enjoy math.. after they surpass TGTB math??
@courtneyendicott18322 жыл бұрын
We use a mastery math program but they DEFINITELY constantly review older concepts! They'd forget everything if they didn't. I think that's a misunderstanding about mastery programs. Also, for the the "extra" topics like measurement, time, money, etc, they are introduced at increasing difficulty in several grade levels. Just like regular math. It's really not that differently from Spiral.

I would love to see a video comparing the math programs you’ve used. Unfortunately our family is not loving the Simply TGTB math. The lessons are so much longer and just worksheets instead of having the hands on kinesthetic style of learning in the lessons along with 1-2 worksheets. Mine went from old version level 2 to new version 3. So maybe some of it is the lessons getting longer and harder cause they are in 3rd grade? 🤷🏻♀️ It’s been disappointing that we had a math curriculum we all loved and now it’s a miss.

This is so exciting! I was thinking about reaching out about your feelings on TGATB 6th grade math. I purchased Horizons for my daughter but something just isn't sitting well with me as far as being a good fit for my daughter. I wanted to do this but wasn't sure! Thank you so much for what you do!🥰

I purchased this for my 7th grader. I think this level looked to be on par with her knowledge , I have other workbooks and online things we use as well, as she gets bored with the same thing daily. I can't blame her, I do too. Anyway, flipping through it, it seems a little overwhelming , I hope it's not though. I really am hoping for a good year. Last year we didn't really find a good math that fit us, unfortunately.

I have got this too for my 13 year old daughter. We live in Scotland and she would be going into 2nd year if she was in school. Last year was our first year home educating with her and my 6 year old son and our 2nd year home educating our 15 year old daughter. So we are still trying to figure out what works. I'm hoping my daughter will enjoy this maths. I also have learn math fast for her which I'm hoping to also do daily to help fill in any gaps she may have as she is not confident in maths. I have math mammoth 1 for my 6 year old and my 15 year old is going to college. I'm hoping for a better more consistent year this school year. X
