Thoughts on rotary polishers? Most detailers say its a must. I've done my own car and didn't burn paint. Studied proper techniques etc etc. Did my second car burned the paint 😑😑. I want to ditch the rotary... It's not worth the risk. Especially customers cars
@PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
Rotaries are meant for more experienced detailers with years of polishing behind them. If you don't know what you're doing, you can quickly burn through paint or create holograms. They do have their use though. If you need heavy cutting quickly done, a rotary is perfect for that. You can finish off with a DA after the cutting stage. If you need precise edge work, a rotary is more appropriate as the backing plate spins in the same axis which is more precise than the random orbit movement of a DA. I think it's a great tool to have in one's arsenal, but most detailers these days use DA polishers or forced rotation polishers. In my experience, DA polishers finish better.
@daves.32785 жыл бұрын

I’ve been considering a maxshine M15 pro 2 or a Shinemate EX620. Do you have any expierence with the Shinemate? I heard the M15 had stalling issues but it was resolved with the pro 2. What are your thoughts?
@PanTheOrganizer2 жыл бұрын
I never had issues even with the original M15, but the Pro was for sure an improvement. I haven't tested the Shinemate though. My favourite polishers overall are still Flex and Rupes though. If you have the extra money, go for those.

@@PanTheOrganizer thank you! I’m trying to spend around $200-$250ish. I’m going to graphene coat my car and probably use it sparingly for polishing jobs and light paint correction. I do detailing on the side, but only a few cars for friends and family.

Pan. I bought the maxshine pro 2 da polisher per your recommendation. Very disappointed in it. It stalls all the time even just the weight of it on the paint. Any suggestions. Going to return it. Do you recommend a direct drive polisher which I’m told is not related to pressure to prevent stalling. If so which one do you recommend. Please help
@PanTheOrganizer3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. I never had issues. Usually when a D/A stalls, it's because you need to readjust your technique and apply less pressure. Any D/A even my very expensive Rupes LHR15 MKII will stall if you apply too much pressure. It's the nature of the technology. If you never want your pads to stall, then yes a direct drive polisher like my Flex 3401 is the way to go, but that costs triple the price of the MaxShine. You can also try another value oriented solid D/A like the Griot's Garage G9: amzn.to/3bYY6vt If this stalls too, it's really your technique that you have to readjust.
@davidlammermeier48843 жыл бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer even if I just set the polisher on the car hood the weight of the polisher causes it to stall. That doesn’t seem like too much pressure
@davidlammermeier48843 жыл бұрын
@@PanTheOrganizer can you recommend a less expensive direct drive. Also do you know of any 4 inch pad polisher. 5 inch seems too big for me to polish most of my Acura MDX. 5 inch is only good for the hood but once again I am a beginner. Appreciate your feedback so promptly

You never "need" a washer mod. It depends if you like a free spinning backing plate. The washer mod comes with the tool if you want it. No Canadian link for now unfortunately.

Hey Pan I have been using the PC 2474xp for a couple years now. How does this compare to these. Plus can you go over what you mean by 15 or 8 throw. Thanks
@PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
I had a Porter Cable 7424XP (not 2474) when I started polishing. It was an ok starter tool, but this ShineMaster M15 Pro is way more powerful and has a longer throw to get the job done quicker. You can't even compare both tools. M15 Pro is better. A "throw" is how far the backing plate spins out (left or right). The longer throw (15mm) will cover more surface area in a single pass compared to an 8mm throw, so you are more efficient.
@larsdahl65945 жыл бұрын
Under what circumstances would you reach for the 8mm rather than the 15mm?

Hey man, question what’s the best degreaser to use on paint ? To get off old wax and what not...
@PanTheOrganizer5 жыл бұрын
Chemicals alone won't fully remove waxes and paint sealants. They can help to break down a big part of the older layers of waxes or sealants, but to fully remove them, you'll have to do some paint polishing steps as mechanical abrasion is what truly removes those. When you're done polishing, do an IPA wipe down (isopropyl alcohol) to remove polishing oils. You can use a paint prep like Dupli Color too. Then you'll have a 100% prepped surface, ready to accept fresh layers of your favourite wax, paint sealant or better yet, ceramic coating. To give you an idea of the steps, watch how I detail a vehicle: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6Glopmegsp6iJI But good strip washes like Purple Power Vehicle and Boat Wash with a foam cannon will start breaking those down. Adam's Strip Wash is another good decon soap.

Hi Pan I’m gonna get this polisher. So if it’s a 5 inch backing plate does that mean I need 6 inch pads? And also using these machines when spreading a wax or a sealant what speed should I do that on and do I need to spray the pads with anything before I start using them on the paint?
@PanTheOrganizer3 жыл бұрын
That is correct Cole. If you have a 5" backing plate, you want 5.5 or 6" pads. You usually polish at higher speeds (4 or 5) and apply waxes and sealants at lower speeds (1 or 2). Watch my paint polishing tutorial for beginners here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jmPUm4Jrrb-NaKc

My pleasure, glad I can serve as a role model. I use pad conditioners on foam pads. On microfiber pads, I just spread the polish all over the pad to prime it, like in my polishing tutorial for beginners.
@PanTheOrganizer3 жыл бұрын
You first have to look at how bad your paint is. If the scratches are many and deep, you will start with a compound stage. Wipe that off. Then move to the polishing stage, wipe that off. If your paintwork only has light swirls and scratches, you could just do a polish stage.
