The modified CX-5 can be recognized by the new front end: the radiator grille and the characteristic wing motif appear more three-dimensional and therefore more powerful, and the headlights and taillights have also been redesigned. The new Zircon Sand Metallic color completes the range of exterior paint finishes. The existing range of equipment lines has been expanded to include three new variants, which express their independent character with subtle differences.
The practicality of the CX-5 is increased by a charging cradle in the center console for wireless charging of smartphones (depending on equipment) and the loading floor that can now be positioned at two different heights. In the upper position, it is at the same height as the loading sill, making loading and unloading easier. Smaller items can now be stored easily and safely in an additional storage compartment under the boot floor.
The new top-of-the-range equipment line Sports-Line Plus emphasizes the dynamic forms of the Kodo design with its wheel arches, side skirts and bumper bottom parts painted in the body colour. The high-quality look of the vehicle is underlined by the shiny 19-inch silver alloy wheels. The interior is characterized by soft nappa leather and high-quality real wood inlays.
The new Mazda CX-5 special model Newground for practically oriented customers has a silver optical underbody protection at the front and rear, silver side skirts, black painted exterior mirrors, green accents on the radiator grille and silver-black polished 19-inch alloy wheels. In the interior there are suede upholstery with light green stitching; the accents on the air vents are also in this colour. In addition, the boot floor is reversible here and has a washable coating in addition to a carpet surface.
The sporty special model Homura is characterized by the CX-5 2022 with a glossy black finish on the radiator grille, wing motif, lower bumper parts, wheel arches, side skirts and exterior mirrors. The taut, athletic look of the vehicle is complemented by 19-inch alloy wheels with a black metallic finish. Red accents can be found on the radiator grille; the seams on the black leather seats and on the steering wheel, shift lever and door panels are also red.
The Skyactiv-G petrol engines meet the strict requirements of the Euro 6d emission standard without an additional petrol particle filter and combine their lively power development with high efficiency. A cylinder deactivation also contributes to this, which, in addition to the 2.5-liter top engine Skyactiv-G 194 with 143 kW/194 hp, also works in the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G 165 in combination with a manual gearbox. In this way, further fuel savings can be achieved, particularly at low engine loads.
The top petrol engine Skyactiv-G 194 with Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission, which is available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, impresses with consumption of 7.4-7.1 l/100 km and CO₂ emissions of 169- 161 g/km (according to NEDC). Also available with front and all-wheel drive is the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G with an output of 121 kW/165 hp and 213 Nm of torque (NEDC consumption 7.0-5.8 l/100 km; CO₂: 159-133 g / km). In conjunction with all-wheel drive, the six-speed automatic Skyactiv-Drive is available as an option to the standard Skyactiv-MT six-speed manual transmission.

This is the only turbocharged engine in the CX-5 sold in Europe. In North America, they have a turbo gas engine with 230hp (filled with regyular fuel) which boosts to 260hp filled with premium fuel. The diesel is no longer sold over in North America.

The diesel engine isn't the best to buy. Oil turbo feed failure, common. DPF regeneration malfunction, common. Common rail loosing pressure, common. Many more. The petrol engines are winnings the market over. The 13:1 C/R is eco and delivers power efficiently
