New media, new mug, new addition

Trying a different kind of media in the moving bed filter. New logo means a new mug. Something new for the pond.
The Bio Chip is a different shaped media. The total protected surface area is more than 2.4 times higher than K1. The main difference to K1/K3 is that the protected area or quiet zone in Bio Chip, is designed to be the perfect environment for micro animals, not just bacteria. The quiet zones created by the hydrophilic layer protecting every cavity in the Bio Chip, is critical to allow these micro animals to flourish and not flushed out as in other types of media.

Thanks Sid. Just to be clear Mystery passed away earlier this year. The new fish was purchased as a reminder of her (I hate to say replacement as she was one of a kind.) Spring starts today so we can enjoy open ponds soon.

Those bio chips look great. They aren't going to wash out easily. Those chips circulated really quickly. Ya that wind was wild .. we got a few whiteouts. Nice dark hi utsuri. I like it... Yes it does have a similarity to mystery. Full of energy!!! I thought I saw your new fish.. Does it have a little bit of white? I agree about getting fish you like.. Nice mug!!! I need to get mugs made up eventually lol

It does appear to have some white on the underside of the pectoral fins. I'm hoping the new bio chips have a positive effect on the filtration. I picked up another bag on the weekend for use in the outdoor pond filtration once it's warm enough to get things up and running again. Fingers crossed that happens soon. First day of Spring is today...hooray !
