I admire your bravery and self-confidence- you are beautiful inside and out! Supportive, lifetime friends mean so much and it seems so hard for people like us (well, speaking for myself, at least) to even maintain basic friendships. I'm so thankful that you had/have that person in your life. 🙏🏼 You are completely amazing, Jackie, and I'm so proud of how far you've come. Thank you for supporting and encouraging those of us who are still terrified of looking squarely in the mirror. I have a similar candid personality and listening to you makes me feel like I might also be okay one day. ❤

Thank you for your vulnerability and honesty. Support is so hard to find because of the stigma that destroys compassion. Trying to keep hope that the system of care will improve. Self guided KZbin therapy on medcircle has been a greatly effective treatment thus far, not to mention most informative, real, and cheapest. Thank you for bringing this content.

I was put on antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds and dx'd with anorexia for over 30 yrs. Only after being intubated for 4 days, in my 50's, I was finally dx'd with Celiac. After going gluten free for several yrs., I finally feel better, but so much damage was done to my bones and my mental health because doctors constantly told me it was all in my head and I was hypochondriac.

It was "all in my head for 15-20 years." Indeed, IT was finally diagnosed as a 7.5 cm meningioma - after a seizure at the mall led to a CT scan in the ER. Dismissed for 2 decades as migraine. Crushing headaches, dizziness, debilitating depression.

I believe you! And sending you virtual hugs for every time you were neglected by anyone. I wish neglect and invalidation of someone's feelings, emotions and anything internal which is not visible to the naked eye, were made a crime against humanity and the one committing it would be punished for life.

My sister constantly dismisses what everyone says with “who cares?” Well obviously, whomever is speaking about said topic cares! It’s incredibly frustrating. I have never uttered those two words after someone has expressed their curiosity or feelings. It is incredibly rude. For me, a huge red flag is when a person says “who cares?” in everyday conversation.

It's so hard to know that my behavior, before I gained self-awareness and was able to work on my BPD patterns, was interpreted as narcissistic when internally I was so turbulent that I had no idea what was going on. Nothing was calculated or intentionally manipulative. I had no control and my emotions were so overwhelming that at times I simply couldn't cope. It can look a lot like more malignant toxic patterns such as narcissism that know what they are doing and hurt people anyway for their own egoic reasons. It's demonized because only the one with BPD is aware of the feelings and intentions behind BPD behavior and it hurts the partners, friends and families just as much if not more than narcissism would

I've been hearing "It's all in your head" for literally half a century. It started with PMS in the 1970s and later included CPTSD and narc abuse (complex trauma). Editing to add fibromyalgia. Last year I was diagnosed with ADHD and was told by a sibling "That's not a real thing. Everyone has it. It's just inattentiveness due to our cell phones." The same person also told me I don't have arthritis - I'm just lazy. "It's all in your mind, and if you weren't so negative, you would manifest better things in your life." I don't even think these comments were necessarily malicious but based in ignorance and magical woo woo thinking. Either way, it's made me shut down about being frank with all these topics. The more I try to stand up for myself, the more I'm branded the loon in my family, so moving forward, I only talk about trivial things with them. I'm looking forward to the podcast!

Listening again. Brought this up in Support Group tonight. Some folks mean well when the say 'it's your mindset that needs to change.' I figured that was just a fancy way of saying "It's all in your head." Available now from MedCircle. So I stood up for someone and plugged your new awesome podcast. Was listening to the EP 4 Recap before I left.

This isn’t a pity me comment, nor is it the attitude I have as I type this. 🙂 Depression, anxiety, c-ptsd, adhd… it lives in my head so my body suffers, and vice versa. It’s debilitating and unless I mask and keep going I’m invalidated. They say talk to someone don’t cut or give up. Yet when you try you’re dismissed. So you mask or isolate until you’re so far worse that when you NEED help it seems overwhelming to other ppl and yet again “you shoulda coulda woulda”. No matter what it’s ur fault and unless you’re lucky enough to be associated w healthy ppl personal or clinical, it can feel and at times actually be impossible to make a full comeback let alone simply making things more functional. It blows my mind how ppl are then later confused when you no longer ask for help (not even in a jaded way either) or prefer to deal with things on your own afterwards wether or not ur situation is either improving or worsening. It’s still better than being dismissed/invalidated.

This video is so beautifull. Your guys are vulnerable, mooving, clever and honnest. The education you bring on the table is a game-changer for so many of us. You deserve the praises. A year ago i was homeless (kicked out of a trailler in January, eating at the red cross charity, in a deep depresive state, with no job and alone with my cats). Because of your videos i started to educate myself, to understand what was happening to me and also others. Doing that i took a distance with my symptoms, anough distance to find different jobs that lead me to a full time secured job today. I mooved and I live in a beautifull place with an amazing man i'm in love with. And i now have anough money to provide for myself and my cats ( they mean the world to me). I also will go back to studies. So your work made a "f$#@^ difference" to me. Thank you very much and i wish the best to all of you. Cheers from Switzerland ! ;-) Nico.

My therapist literally doubted if one can be "addicted" to something else than substances. :/ And when I told him I was traumatized, he doubted that, too. 😢 But that was two years ago, he doesn't do stuff like that anymore, he's very supportive and encouraging. :)

Oh wow. Can't imagine how she can go back to those moments of snorting up coke and looking at herself in the mirror and still be steady. How? How do you hold yourself so strongly? Is it some kind of mental conditioning that we can learn to do? I've never been able to hold myself up decent enough to talk to my friends about my low times.

This guy I knew was very ignorant and always said mental illness was a head game. He never wanted to learn anything different about mental illness. People that say mental illness is a head game are doing a huge disservice to the mental health community.
