If I would buy a new bike today, i'd go for a merida or a giant. The quality and price are just so good compared to other brands
@sifi79503 жыл бұрын
Completely agree! I’ve got a good entry level Giant gravel bike (Revolt 1) and a good entry level Merida road bike (Scultura 400 rim) and I’m so impressed. If I ever upgrade to a Carbon road bike I’d had my heart set on a BMC Road Machine, but the new Scultura looks awesome!

the question is how aero the scultura is compared to the reacto. If the new 2022 scultura is 80-90% as good its probably the better buy. Not necessarily because it is lighter but because its more comfortable to ride.

Specialized is being greedy. I like the Tarmac but not for $14,000.00!! I think they are taking advantage of the uptick in cycling popularity. That Merida Reacto is a great value and a nice looking bike. As for Durian rider, think Durian fruit... I love your videos, especially the comparisons and the dry sense of humor 😊

I like the Merida bikes but I’d go for a Scultura too. The price of Specialized SL7s is astonishing. I don’t believe Ineos have changed to disc brakes for any performance advantage I think it’s a manufacturer’s decision. I’m sure that disc brakes offer better braking but I certainly don’t think they’re worth an extra $1000 ( this was the price jump where I live)

I'm in New Zealand. yesterday I went to check out the reacto with old Bahrain paint job and I kind like it. really good value for money for a bike with ultegra groupset (apart from the cranksets). seems to be a good bike.. Di2 compatible too..I'm very tempted to get it, move my di2 groupset over and sell the old bike.

Why are they using Shimano XTR RT-MT900 disc rotors and not Dura-ace ones on their top end bikes ???

Because they are lighter. Most riders swapped the discs of DA9100 for those, therefore Shimano decided to integrate them into DA9200. Technically, those are DA disc rotors now.

One of them is, wilier zero slr is the only bike that is under UCI weight limit, bog standard
@swe2233 жыл бұрын
@@normen416 Yes indeed, thanks for pointing that out. But let me have some doubts. The weight listed by Wilier includes very light tubular wheels, and without pedals I guess? Without bottle cages? Without computer mounts? Look at the video of Jakob Fuglsang's Wilier 0 SLR: it's 7.15kg. Sure it *might* be under the UCI weight with the right components, but put on (light) clincher wheels and accesories and bam you're 300g over. It's not a bike that can be consistently at 6.8kg for every rider like it used to be with rims.
@normen4163 жыл бұрын

Would be interesting to see comparison between the Merida and the Canyon offer… As for rim or disc??? taking the weight and annoying noise every now and then for me disc is a way better option from the following perspectives cost of damaging carbon wheels and replacing carbon brake pads the increased and faith in breaking and knowing on wet days coming off descents that I am in a better place makes it a no brainer, but I can see why rim still holds close to people at the end of the day it's a personal choice.
