Windchill @32°F is STILL freezing!!!! I usually don't like Adv ride videos, but you make 'em interesting. Almost (but not quiet) makes me wanna get an off road bike. Thanks for sharing your adventure with us. Edit: yes, always follow your gut feelings on those difficult choices.

😂❄️ Thanks! Having been in Colorado for a couple of years now I’m getting acclimated to the cold. I’ve always been pretty cold tolerant. My mother used to joke that she cold-proofed me as a kid, like Alexander the Great’s mother did to him. I haven’t yet conquered the known world, but I guess it comes in handy when camping in the winter. 😂

Great ride-a-long again. Lovely landscape. It´s winter here, so it´s great to see your trip.

Great video.....and new Subscriber! I've ridden half of Section 7, from Cuba to Abiquiu.....and I'm doing that same portion again on Sunday....but still haven't done the last half from Abiquiu to the Colorado state line!! Will have to do that soon!!!

Nicely done! I would be miserable in that cold... Looking forward to this series. I've ridden quite a bit of the NMBDR sections when I did the Great Divide (and getting to the start of it) but haven't done the whole route. New Mexico is one of my favorite places.

Thank you. As will see in the coming videos, I modified the route considerably and only road a couple of full sections this time. I was trying to avoid too much sand with these tires, and I ended up being a little short on time. I’d like to go back and ride the full route.

You are one adventurous biker, camper! I thought your Vespa camping was out there, you surpassed that!👍🏻

😂 Thanks! What can I say? I’m having fun!

Smart taking the easier path on those tires riding solo. IMO the ride should be fun. Sand and big rocks wouldn't be fun for me on my 1250gs.

I'm glad I found your channel! I bought a S-10 about a year ago and I'm planning some off-pavement riding for next summer. I'm very experienced off-road, but on dirt bikes. I'm pretty inexperienced riding a big bike off road. Our season here is pretty much wrapping up for any mountain travel as I'm in Alberta Canada, just about 100km from the east slopes of the Rockies. Unrelated to the riding, may I ask what you use for a microphone and camera setup? Your audio is very clear. Thanks!

Never mind haha. I just found your (very helpful) video that explains your setup.

S10 is a big bike for off-road but I like it. I find you do certain things differently than you would on a smaller dirtbike. Chris Birch has an adventure bike video series for purchase that’s actually pretty good. Don’t know your skill level, but I found them to be interesting and helpful. He shows some techniques that I didn’t know or think about that made handling the big bikes off-road easier. Have fun!

What riding gear are you wearing? I like it..particularly the pants. That stuff is crazy expensive
@flatgrindrides4 ай бұрын
Yup. They are crazy expensive. I’m wearing Klim Baja S4 jacket and pants. I had a hard time finding jackets that fit me and ended up with these. I’ve been pretty happy with them. They’ve held up well with a few years of use.

1. what kind of bike is that? doesn't look like a Himalayan 2. being totally ignorant of off-road riding, I thought those very knobby tires were used. 3. My ignorance of this subject is due to my having no desire to ever partake in off-road riding.

The bike is a Yamaha Super Tenere 1200. Normally, yes, I would run a knobby tire or a tire with significant tread. I had ordered tires for this trip but they did not arrive before I had to leave. So, I was a little bit obsessed with the tires, the terrain and traction throughout the trip, and I modified my route to avoid sandy sections. Not ideal from a tire standpoint, but I got to do the trip and it was a good one.
