City Grip is the best overall scooter tire I have ever rode on. I have tried the Diablo, Diablo Rosso and Angel. The city grip is most agile feeling and comfortable over bumps. I hope the CG2 rides the same.

Feedback on these 2nd generation michelins: Fantastic. My honda scooter has the generation 1 or the rear and gen 2 on the front. I ride year-round in the mountains in Austria. The gen 2 in the front is always predictable and communicative, even in heavy rain or light snow. Gen 2 is M+S rated (Mud and Snow), meaning it is approved for all season use. The gen 1 (Not M+S) in the rear does not like wet roads, especially the painted lines. Medium acceleration with a slight lean can lose grip and kick the rear of the bike sideways when roads are wet and riding over the painted lines or steel from sewer covers or tram rails. Not fun. By contrast, the gen 2 tire holds its line over all terrain and conditions. When it is pushed beyond its limits, it releases grip progressively and in a predictable way, allowing the rider to correct and stay safe. Wear on the gen 2 is great, but are somewhat noisy when carving corners in the dry. Rubber compound on the gen 2 is fantastic in the dry and my scoot drags hard parts in good corners. Braking grip is stellar, even in wet. I find them to give excellent precision and maneuverability. Just ordered gen 2 for the rear of my scoot which will go on before winter. My partner just got her first scoot, which came with pirellis, and we will mount up these gen 2 michelins at the end of summer season. For just a few euros extra, I see these City Grip 2's as the only viable option for our use, especially when considering the penalty for losing traction on 2 wheels. These are only my observations, every rider makes their own individual choices.

2007 GTS250ie, 6800miles, I'm the original owner, Just swapped out the original Sava tires for City Grips. Professionally balanced and installed. Now I have a front end wobble at 30mph. Only obvious when single-hand riding, but still rather disconcerting all the same.

I have been riding GTS 300's since 2014 and only tried one other rear tyre brand than Michelin. It wasn't 't much cheaper and the tyre fitter persuaded me to try it. It didn't wear as well as Michelin. So guess what I will be sticking with, the Michelin man of course. I find that they seem to last really well and grip well too. Next time I will try city grip 2, looking forward to your next vid Robot, cheers

James, your last name is quite interesting from an ancestry perspective. Are you having german ancestors? My last name is Kroell (ger. Kröll) and I know some of my ancestors relatives moved to the USA several 100 years ago and changed their last name from Kröll to Krell.

Thanks as always Robot! You hit on a subject that I'm passionate about. Michelins! When ever I buy a new vehicle (old or new) it HAS to have Michelins immediatley or I just don't want to drive it. My dilemma now is that I have 3 Helix, and a number of motorcycles. I want Michelins for the Heli and started looking about a month ago for them. I was so disappointed in that I could not seem to find Michelins in the correct size. Fronts for the Helix are: 110/100-12 and Rears: 120/90-10. I still think I'm out of luck. I'll have to visit your store and see if you have the Bridgestones that came from the factoy so I can support you and your channel. I LOVE this channel and love it when my "notification" bell goes off. Thanks for all you do my friend. You're one of a kind!

The City Grip 2’s have a silicon compound tire for enhanced traction in the wet. Unfortunately from what I have seen they are almost twice the price of the regular City Grip.

I have a Honda Monkey (previously had Honda Grom). Had City Grip on the Grom. I used City Grip 2 on my Monkey (unfortunately Michelin do not make these in an 80 (eg 120x12-80) so bit disappointed but went with what was on offer. In my opinion these are the BEST tyres in the wet (and dry). I had V rubbers on it before which were good too but when I had to change couldn't get them and went for the stock size Pirelli SI60 (they were awful in the wet) so changed as soon as I could to Michelin. Couldn't be happier!!

Thanks for the weight clarification, I'm trying to get the lightest tires I can on my aerox 155, the best scooter ever that the US didn't get haha I want better acceleration, top speed, and fuel economy so weight is crucial. RB sp811 rims save 1kg per rim of rotating mass and saving .5kg per tire going with the 1's not the city grip 2's will net a total in 1.5kg weight savings per wheel, a massive performance increase!

The original City grips really helped on bumpy roads, were a nice soft compound, absorbed the bumps better than most tyres and made the ride much better. Are the City Grip 2`s still soft and good at helping with comfort as much anyone. Thanks.
@calgary2800
@calgary2800 4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you about the city grip's comfort. I was a Pirelli fan and now I am converted to Michelin. The City Grip is the softest and most comfortable tire while being the most agile and easiest to lean over. Online stores are running out of stock on the 1st city grip. I was hoping to stock up. The only tire that comes close to city grip comfort is the 1st Diablo but that has been discontinued.

Tyres indeed is a copletely subjective theme...For the first time i will disagre with you. For example i prefer Pireli angels which are maybe the most popular scooter tyre in my country. Michelins have the reputation of rapid decrease in their performance after very few months. I don' t know if you have pireli, metzeler etc available at the States but it would be nice idea to make a comparation video of various scooter tyres. Thank you once again for the nice content.

What is the best street legal scooter tire in terms of grip for use in dry, warm, tropical weather (20-35C), in speeds up to 60-70 km/h? I don't care about price and durability. I want the tire to warm fast and maintain performance during its life span. I am not riding in wet conditions.
