Funny as hell to see the Ripsaw by Howe & Howe being shown and called the Storm. But hey, how many people have no clue that a good portion of the video shown in action is of a different tracked vehicle?

Gotta love how 90% of the vehicle in action is ACTUALLY the H&H Ripsaw MS3 UGV and NOT Highland Systems Storm; which has a striking resemblance to the Civilian Ripsaw vehicle. I wouldn't trust the Storm or the Ripsaw in a fire fight, it's not built for it.

2:30 that's just straight-up wrong steel tracks can be repaired by inserting new links if an older one is broken due to combat or terrain damage. this sort of maintenance can and is being done in the field, for some vehicles, it can even be done without the support of another vehicle, exact same as your rubber links, only the rubber links will be under a lot more wear and (usually) more fragile why the hell do you think they always carried spare track bits on those old timely tanks. because of exactly that. 3:00 that is also most likely not true. the number of roadwheels won't affect to any noteworthy degree if the vehicle will trigger mines. weight, ground clearance, and if or if not the vehicle runs over the mine with one of its tracks are usually deciding factors mines trigger usually at around 130 kg applied. I'm gonna go out on a whim and say this 10 ton vehicle will definitely trigger those 130kg triggers, in spite of all your fancy roadwheels. 3:30 440kw + 150kw sounds like some very heavy engines, my estimate is about 2-3 tons ish for the main, but if they removed a lot of the cast iron parts they might be able to get it to 1.5 tons (metric) should be 500kg-1000kg for the 150, but again, maybe they used some lightweight bullshit that somehow makes it more reasonable that's gonna require quite the powerplant though, a part that if it were to break down would be hard to replace, since currently, most vehicles in service are either diesel or gas-powered and spare parts may be hard to come by. battery life should also be a concern. with that power output, I don't see it running for all that long without recharging which given the recent events of Russia running out of gas for their tanks at the front even though all around them are gas stations, should be kept in mind. all in all 4-ton engine assembly, with probably another ton at least of battery, on a vehicle with seemingly very light armor, rubber tracks and big glass windows make for a very heavy design for a vehicle that should not be very heavy. 4:10 so electric-only it has a 200 ish km range. using a fuel that is not yet fully established in vast parts of the country, and also not commonly used by most militaries. the T72 (Russian MBT) as an example has a 500 ish km range, on a fuel that is more readily available, and can if bad comes to worse, be acquired from other vehicles. 4:20 (nice) so it's an 8-ton engine assembly, alright. 4:30 140 kmh in a military vehicle is nice. don't think the tracks are gonna hold up to that for all too long, but it definitely has good speed. 5:00 yea its terrain ability is pretty tank standard. nothing special there. 5:20 so it's rated against an AK? ok. no, no, ok. your military vehicle will live to see another day even after coming into contact with the unrivaled ballistic prowess of a 7.62x49 good thing that there is nothing higher caliber that would be commonly used against *tracked combat vehicles* like say a 50. or a 20x138, good that such things do not exist. "mine blast protection systems", to my uneducated ear, just says "metal plate at the bottom, may or may not work" Stanag 1-2 (they don't specify) so it's rated against hand grenades, anti-personnel mines, and maybe possibly smaller vehicle mines. "may or may not work" I was correct. 5:30 why would you do unmanned missions with a vehicle that is already of that specific size for a manned mission, it doesn't make it any less of a target. for unmanned stuff, use smaller vehicles, that cant fit people, that way, they are considerably harder to hit. 5:50 6 personel, and 2 tons cargo, not good, not terrible. 7:00 nope, them electric engines gonna show on thermal, those things get hot as fuck 8:30 oh it would be unique alright this really just sounds like an incredibly overcomplicated recon vehicle. it obviously can't be used in combat, outside of maybe "enhanced police action" it has no mentionable carry capacity, for either people or equipment it is very heavy for its size, which brings many issues of its own it is using an uncommon power source and does not share any parts with any other vehicle already used the rubber tracks will be prone to get worn down, and since, again, they are unique to this vehicle, will be a nuisance to replace. it is a speedy amphibious vehicle, with very basic ballistic protection that is basically it. fun, certainly, effective? id wager not.

@@matthiuskoenig3378 mmm, no. Model s very much looks like its own vehicle and nothing like a Ferrari, as well as mechanically being vastly different. Rubber tracks get stuck. Metal tracks don't.
@nikitatarsov5172
@nikitatarsov5172 2 жыл бұрын
Allow me to randnerd about it xD 1. Rubber tracks are exactly if not more tricky as complicated to fix as metal tracks. Metals exchange just standart-pieces, while rubber has to get clamped or chemically glued. 2. Waterjet is placed to high for max efficency and the angles of the front makes it pushing itselfe under the warterline if there is more than swimmingpool conditions. 3. B6 is a civilan armor type and quite irrelevant for military vehicles that rely on armor somehow(B6=protection against high powered rifles just like 7.62 snipers with no AP-ammo). 4. Electric batteriys aren't placed in combat vehicles for even kinetic shocks can kill and enflame them - and the're too heavy in comparison. 5. Pseudo-stealth coating with angles that negate every conceiling effect on radar impulses. 6. All small whight vehicles either don't trigger (primitive) anti-tank mines or get nuked by it anyway, as they has microfibres that touch the vehicles surface and ignite by this. 7. STANAG 1 ground protection mean a handgrenade or anti-infantry-mines that never intendet to deal with armor. 8. The small size(and the high personal capacity) makes it way less efficent in storrage/armor comparison and need mor whight per person as all most other APC's. 9. Submergable ones would face even more imbalancements, including getting stuck in muddy ground wiht ther small whidth rubber tracks. 10. Remote is quite useless without a propper situational awareness cam, and this seems to be not implemented. 11. Armatures are overlouded with unnecessary civil stuff and lack of the space for mission data, GPS, camera screeens and other combat-relevant stuff. 12. The designated room for 6 personal are maybe achieved by piling them up, but not with seats, sitting or with space for even infantry without weapons - as seen in the backdoor-view. 13. Heat-signature (specially against tanks) conceiling alone is quite irelevant, as tanks have several sensors. 14. AT weapons mean heavy top whighting, and a vehicle not meant for that is lost in terrain (even tank designers deal with the problem of hight and banalce of f.e. guns). 15. Further equipment would fill the intenral room or - in case of diving equip - probably even exceed it, what would make it quite useless as a APC. And my personal take: 16 From design to implementet tech - all seems to be for achieving buzzwords to look/sound cool, what probabaly is a strong indicator that it isen't. I'm cool with fresh ideas, but if even the most basic rules or military design are ignored ... hmm, not so cool.

@@User-dc6sm its a recon/special operations vehicle, not a battle tank. seeing as its got a 2500hp power pack they could have easily given it a couple tons of armour equivalent to MBTs (which have 1500hp powerpacks), but being able to go it rough off road, at speed you need light armour or no armour. see the US canadian special forces Polaris ATV side-by-sides, literally no armour, a 50cal HMG and 2 7.62 LMGs. the storm is clealry meant to compete with these kinds of vehicles (shown doing the things that special ops need their ATVs to do), it offers It will offer mine protection up to STANAG 4569 Level 2 , thus its enough to stop muktple armour piercing 7.62x51 rifle fire at 10m+ or 155mm shell landing 80m next to it, but not enough to stop 12.7mm (50cal) at the same range). this is equivalent to the M113 APC. which is massive vs the no armour of wheeled equivalents on the market.
