New MINI Cooper Interior Design & Technology - MY Two Cents

MINI has a lot of new technologies packed into the upcoming 4th generation Cooper, Countryman and Aceman. Here is all the details about the new 9.4" round OLED MINI Interaction Unit, driving experiences and all other new technology we will see in the upcoming electric and ICE MINI Cooper.

We can't wait for this new tech to arrive into MINI. The new driving modes are the biggest standout feature to us. The dashboard in general will be very much a 'marmite' thing (love or hate), but we have strong feelings that this will grow on a lot of people like it has done for us. Hopefully you will have lots more content on the Generation 4 in the near future. Keep up the epic videos!

Great video! I like the idea of a larger central display, including the old style speedo. I miss that from my 04 Cooper. I have concerns that if there is too much going on with the display, driver focus and attention to traffic could be a problem. Other than that, it will be interesting to see how this develops!

Agreed! I'm sure they have done lots of testing to make sure it's not displaying so much it gets distracting but I guess we will see one day!

question: When I charge my phone on the charging tray, it shows the charging activated notification on the OLED screen and it covers up whatever is on my display (navigation for example). I can’t remove the charging notification- is there a way to reset the display to correct this glitch?

Great video! Love the off white center speedo (Timeless mode?) and the '59 sounds that they recorded. Also love the B&W classic Mini wallpaper on left at 11:32...hope that's a standard one. I've haven't been a big fan of the exterior or interior of this new Mini but it looks like a lot of great features are packed into the center screen. Slightly off topic...is the driver's side air vent that little slit below the center screen? If it is I've got my doubts that's going to do the job keeping me cool in summer down here in SC.

Awesome video bud. I am waiting to see the new Countryman JCW. I am loving this new interior of the car. Some renderings of the countryman are not looking that impressive and look to simple. Like they lost the fun on the outside. So hope i am proven wrong on that. I personally don’t want to go electric or plug in just yet cause of not having a house of my own. So gas for now and see what they offer in the new Countryman JCW. Thanks for all you do for your 2 cents for us. Waving at ya! 👋

July 2024 - just picked one up and have some major complaints: no Personal mode in US (was hoping this mode would be configurable with a tachometer), has collision avoidance auto braking, but no auto distance cruise control (tech/hardware is there, but feature is removed unless you got the Iconic trim), and worst of all, no tachometer ANYWHERE except in Go-Kart mode, the one mode you wouldn’t want to be using during break-in period when you are trying to keep it under 4500 rpm…oh and not even flappy shift paddles on non-JCW models (dealer speculation). Guess these are meant to mark the end of the motoring-centric era of Minis.

This seems so cool. But I wonder how long MINI will support the security updates and IT updates? I tend to keep my cars for six to 10 years. In the IT world a four year old object is quit old. This is very bad if I happen to purchase a car near the end of the model run and plan to keep it for a while.

I share the same concerns! They need to be committed to updates for a long time! We don't want to be driving old bricks down the road in 10 years.

Sounds like once BMW wants you to buy a new car the current car becomes „unsupported“ like any company (apart from Apple) does it… I have an Apple Watch 4 and still get updates and so far any new system was supported… that a looking time in digital watch world

I like the new shape and external design. But, the interior dash and lining are dreadful! The seats are fine. The huge round LCD display looks out of place, horrible. Mini should have done away with round displays altogether. No display behind the steering wheel? At least the HUD is still there. Sorry, but I don't like it. I was going to order a new Mini next year, but will re-consider.

It seems to me that you car reviewers have problems with your hands and arms waveing all the time? Hold them still and focus on what you are saying and the car. Good examples are news reels journalists in the studio. They hold a pen to avoid moving their hand not to disturb the audience. After a few minutes I'm only seeing your hands. Please change behavour.
