It’s probably because they are more for professionals and they make a lot of colors so they just use numbers to keep track. But yeah, it would be nice if brands named their gel polishes. 🤷‍♀️

Love both collections. I know you don’t do much Makartt. There’s a 6 piece set called Galaxy Gloss Lacquer. They’re a beautiful linear holo collection. Wondering if you couldn’t do a review and see what you think of the set. I bought the collection and received them couple days ago. Swatches them and thought they were beautiful. Two colors really stood out for me, the yellow and a deep forest green.

I think #3 in the purple kit is like Flipper, the dolphin color. I have to say if I got a purple kit and it only contained 1 purple I wouldn't be happy. Call it something else.

Could you say how long you cure each coat for? I'm not sure if it changes and sorry if you did say it, but I never know how long to cure gel polishes. I love your videos btw

No worries Elizabeth! It really depends on the brand, they usually recommend a certain time to cure for but I generally do 30 seconds per coat and then 60 seconds for the top coat. I think this lamp is 45 seconds, I didn't count but it shuts off automatically!

Hmm it might be your lamp - are you using a UV lamp or LED lamp? UV requires 2 minutes per layer I believe!

I've tried gels with a peel off base two different ways. Just using the peel off base as directed the gels didn't last the night. But I tried a coat of nail strengthener then the peel off base on top of that and the gels stayed on for almost 3 days before I started to lose one. When I peeled everything off it left the coat of strengthener on most of my nails.

I've watched your Modelones and Beetles video, and I am wondering if you think either of them would be better over the other OR if another brand comes to mind. Thank you!

Beetles and Modelones are my go-tos for gel for sure, but they perform slightly differently - Beetles is great if you're looking for a hard gel finish and a slightly thinner formula, whereas Modelones feels more like nail polish and can be a bit more malleable. Personally I'd start with Modelones because it's an easier transition, but Beetles does have some great kits for getting started too if you're looking for the more gel-like experience!

I have very soft/weak nails, so I need my nailpolish to help keep my nails from breaking, and the harder the polish, the better. So fast drying top coat is my best friend. I've never tried gels before. I pictured them as being harder than regulat polish once they have cured (not sure why), but from watching you peel them, they look softer and more flexible.. Can anyone give any input on that? I don't want to invenst in gels and an LED lamp if the polish won't work for my nails..

I find that most soak off gels are soft. Hard gels like a polygel or a builder gel do cure stiff enough though. For example, when I break my natural nail tip, I'll carefully reattach it with clear builder gel and then apply thin overlay to protect my nail from breaking again until it grows out.

I find that it varies slightly by brand - Modelones is more malleable on the nails but with top coat it does cure harder. Beetles gel is another brand I use and their gels cure super hard (you can see in my peeling of that brand that it just pops off in one go haha!)

How much did that kit cost in the US or Canada? I got a Multi color Complete kit from TEMU, a great set of tools and extra stuff I can use with other kits because apparently this bushy soft brush is for brushing off powder - which I did not get with my OUCH! YOU JUST TOLD ME $42+... I paid like 15 and got a full size lamp - not the mini or the single finger type. I got primer, base, top, & matte coats, 28 liquid nail gel colors, cutical oil pen, nail stickers- holographic, a essential nail tool kit with crooked- necklaces tweezers, 2 files, 1 has extra cushion and a little round dialer of rhinestones stones , couple of other little things that I can't remember, and it cost me somewhere under 15 bucks! ... Anyway... ...my powder kits. It did include some nail art and some other golden gem accoutrements. Edit: I went shopping again on Temu to see if Modelones has powders as well as the nail gel polish and how affordable twas. I found there are more sellers with other and possibly more popular lines and not so many selling these products. I found a set with 4 mini powders and all the brush on nail liquids, a mini buffing block, a brush, and a small file board. In a nice soft vinyl ziploc bag. $8.39! I bought two I couldn't help myself! Remember no shipping cost and you don't have to pay a membership to have that happen.
