One of my favorite kits and shows! I used the lighting kit from VooDooFX and the reactor is much more subtle and realistic-RBG changing LED's. I originally chose to power it with a 9 volt battery but just as you said, it doesn't last very long. This year I converted to a 12 volt AC adaptor-much better! You can see it on videos from this year's IPMS Modelpalooza competition in Orlando, and it was light up all day, looking great.

I have this lighting kit. It was nice to see the reactor panel because I was wondering how much light bleed I'd get. A lot, apparently, so lot's of light blocking on that. I'm curious though... does the black circuit block for the reactor lights buzz when you have it plugged in? Mine does, and I don't think that's right.

The reactor lighting is overwhelming. Would a resistor work to bring that down.

What 2001 Moebius kits do you recommend picking up multiples of ? Thinking down the road for extras that may be hard to find.

They all seem to be available in good quantities, Culttvman is always getting in new stock. The light kits are a little harder because of the cost. I’ve purchased 2 Discoverys now and 3 of the Moon Bus. One can never have too many models!

Out of curiosity, I just purchased one of these kits, I also have the voodoofx lighting kit which I did not use (instructions kinda suck on that kit) one thing that kit included was a diffuser for the reactor which I will use with the moebius kit (I just think the effect looks better) anyhow on the moebius circuit board there is an extra connector would you happen to know if an extra light can be added that way?, (want to add the overhead lights)

It looks like there are two extra connectors, I’m not sure if they are powered, you could connect a light to it to see.

As for your comment on a "small" nuclear reactor.......might I point you to the submarine NR-1......I had the great pleasure of having a ride on this boat.....the reactor was the size of a standard refrigerator.....granted it was limited on it's power output...but that was 50 years ago..........no telling what they have now....sci-fi become reality ........

The instructions only list options for the AC adapter or a USB cord that used a cell phone type wall adapter. I don’t think a 9V battery would be powerful enough or last long.

@@kenspriggs5687 + thanks for the info I will just make my own lighting setup I have two of the flying sub accessory kits that have the landing gear and the claws that came out in 2009 I will use one for hiding the 9 volt battery in the gear bay and just do a minium amount of lighting or run two 9 volt battery one in each gear bay and split the light between both batteries I have more then enough LEDs to do the job thanks I tried looking for more of these accessory kits they don't make them anymore I went on line looking for them
